CNBC ^

A San Francisco-area police department says it still has full faith in a pilot program to use a Tesla electric patrol car, even though the vehicle reportedly ran low on power last week during a pursuit.

The East Bay Times newspaper reported that a Fremont police officer in the Tesla Model S, which the department bought in March, became involved in a police pursuit Friday but radioed dispatch to say that the electric vehicle warned that it had only 6 miles of battery life left and that he may not be able to continue in the chase.

Yep. Cars that cost twice as much and have a limited range.

Why would police officers of all people, want a car with such limitations? Who the hell signed off on this?

I doubt it was the decision of the Police. It was probably pushed on them by a virtue-signaling politician like a Kalifornia mayor.

Proof the left is insane. Emergency vehicles, police, ambulance, tow trucks, helicopters, need petroleum fuel. Electric won’t do it! It is irresponsible to use electric for those things!

Backup generators use oil/gas!

The a$$holes who want to force us to use solar for everything want us dead.
You can bet your prayer rug THEY won’t be using solar power in an emergency!

A few hundred escapes is a small price to pay for virtue signalling.

They need to trade this thing in for a 1974 Dodge Monaco: “It’s got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it’s got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It’s a model made before catalytic converters so it’ll run good on regular gas.”
