Legendary CREAM drummer Ginger Baker is "critically ill" and in the hospital, his family has revealed.
"Please keep him in your prayers tonight," the family wrote in a brief statement posted to Baker's official Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon.
Baker, who turned 80 in August, has experienced a number of health issues in recent years. In 2016, he underwent open heart surgery, which forced him to cancel a run of tour dates. During recovery, a fall also left him with swollen legs and feet. In 2013, he was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and he is also said to ber suffering from chronic back pain as a result of degenerative osteoarthritis.

“Can’t Find My Way Home”
One of the BEST of the BEST IMHO uh
Rich and Elvin Jones both knocked Ginger . Elvin did like Keith Moon’s playing , however .
You needed to work pressed rat and warthog into that somehow.
Bruce passed away in 2014. He too put a lot of miles on his body. He had a liver transplant in 2003.
Some of his solo stuff was rather eclectic. But always interesting.

Buddy, if he were alive, would probably tell Sammy what LS said and Sammy would call Sinatra and Sinatra would have two animals pay LS a visit and leave him with broken arms.
Chairman of the Board
Ginger Baker was in a whole different world and style from those two. In the world of Rock, I don’t think those two could match Baker.
Rich surely could match Baker or best him in technique but like LS says there has to be a Rock soul that comes out and I don’t think Rich had that. But back then no one would be caught dead saying anything like that :)
Prayers for him.
I shot Ginger’s videos of his jazz band when he lived here in Colorado in the 90s. We became good friends with his (now) ex-wife Karen. She was great and my cousin ended up dating her for a while. Ginger, however, was a nasty self-absorbed ‘queen’. I think he’s an amazing drummer, of course. His son, Kofe, is a good guy and also talented.
Thanks for that. It’s just a GREAT song, and Steve Wynwood’s voice is mesmerising.
All this talk about drummers and no-one has mentioned Bill Bruford?
Is he still alive?
Is he still alive?
My favorite drummer is Ian Paice. Woefully underrated.
Not mean at all, just one of the few humorous moments during the Clintoon reign of terror.
“We gots to buy condominiums for the chirrens what ain’t got none”
And who could forget her sage advice to teach school chirren to masturbate.
By far the most underrated drummer in rock history
Amen. He didn't play it as background, but as an EQUAL instrument. Amazing.
