Oy, and there’s also the many, many preliminary conferences at worldwide locations to come up with the international standards that define the acceptable size and composition parameters for a “grain of sand”.
IOW, the number may not be as big as all that.
There’s about 10,000 stars for every grain of sand on Earth. And that’s just in the known universe.
A large number indeed (just look up and start counting), but hardly “approaching infinite”. The human mind numerically blows out around “trillions”, which is far from “infinite”.
We live in an age when 22 Trillion is insignificant when its Dollars.
Near as we can tell, the universe is indeed finite - just bent in dimensions we have trouble comprehending.
Well, that was indeed interesting.
It Ends?
I was thinking about this question a lot --- about 45 years ago when I experimented with Pot.
I came to the conclusion that there are more grains of sand than there are stars, because there are only about 200 billion stars, and at least half have planets, and for every star that has a planet with sand, there's a bunch more grains of sand to count.
So far, nobody has made it to the end of the Universe’s Line, so to speak?
Near as we can tell, the universe is indeed infinite - just bent in/out dimensions we have trouble comprehending.:)
Most sand is produced as parrotfish excrement. They eat coral and poop sand. There are about 95 species of parrotfish. One of the larger types can produce 200 pounds of sand a year.
It all depends on the distribution, because for any stars past a certain distance away from the Earth (the Hubble distance), we would never receive any light at all.
I think there are as many universes as grains of sand. There is more than one, they are infinite. Just because we do not see them yet does not mean they are not there. We humans tend to limit our own perspective far too much.
“And thats just in the known universe.”
Yep... There are more, many more.
