Walt Disney was trying to make Disneyland not like Coney Island.

Yeah buy WD didn’t think of “Gay Day” when he went to the Coney.

Just to clarify, this is in Ohio and has nothing to do with the original Coney Island, NY where there will still be all sorts of things to ride for years to come.

I did a double take when I read “Ohio River landmark”.

OMG!!! I grew up in the Cincy area, and Coney Island was FABULOUS!!! So sad to see it gone!! It had the WORLD'S largest recirculating pool...it was gorgeous! My mother took me every day of the summer!!
It also had MOONLIGHT GARDENS where people dressed up and went to DANCE on SATURDAY nites! And the rides were GREAT and it was WHOLESOME...
It was also the stop for the PADDLEWHEEL boats that PLIED the OHIO RIVER...
.sad ending.....kids have NO idea what they missed....WHOLESOME ENTERTAINMENT!

They used to have wonderful concerts there too. I saw Frank Sinatra when I lived there in the early 80s.

I remember Coney Island well. I loved the carousel, steeple chase, the wonder wheel, roller coast, and especially the parachute. All gone but not forgotten. I was very young when Luna Park burned to the ground. What will happen to The famous Nathan’s?

I remember Action Pk. aka TRACTION Park. Everytime we went we’d be at our chiropractors office the next day with stiff necks and backaches. He made a ton of $$$$ from that crazy place
