Apple will get a taste of whether upgraded features on the new iPhone 11 are enough to lure shoppers to retail stores around the world as the new smartphones officially hit shelves Friday.

Theres always a reason to upgrade. The IPhone is that good.
If $699 is what the stripper model costs, what do the high end phones go for? The article makes no mention. Wonder why?
If you have to ask, you can’t afford.. ?
There’s one big reason not to upgrade, if leaving out mention of the top of the line phone’s cost is any indication...
Title should read:
Apples Personal Government Surveillance Device Version 11 goes on sale with lines of brain-dead sheep outside major stores around the world
Most people get theirs from their phone carrier for free or at a reduced price under contract.
No need to hang around an Apple store to snap one up.
A long line of men who have never had sex and still live at home lined up :)
Each trying to attain the coveted title of Uber Nerd :)
If only the IPhone could predict the future for them.
I’ll give it a go.
They will die alone :)
I suspect fewer people are doing that because of the bloatware. So the questions are: Are folks buying more unlocked phones? Upgrading less often? Upgrading, but buying less expensive unlocked phone models?
I think the fact that Apple is offering a stripper iPhone is telling.
Pricing pressures must be getting bad.
Truth! Bears repeating.
When my 6 year old Motorola Droid's battery went bad last November, I toyed with just replacing the battery and keeping it going. The only reason I bought a new Samsung Galaxy S9 at that time was because it was 50% off on Black Friday.
At $450 I still thought it was too much though. More and more, people are tired of upgrading just to have the latest and greatest and are opting to keep their devices until they don't work or don't meet their basic needs anymore.
Except for Apple users for some reason. Maybe it's just me, I just don't understand what the compelling reason is to "upgrade" every time a new model comes out. The differences in devices just seems too incremental to me.
My Note 10 blows the iPhone 11 away in speed, functionality and flexibility for customization. Plus I can text from my PC, ...take that iMessage. Never go back to an iPhone. I am brand agnostic when it comes to technology. I love Android for telephony, but for tablets I have a iPad and love it, on my 5th one. I use a Kindle Paperwhite for reading and love that also. I live in a paid for 3 bedroom house, have a a year expenses in the bank, a retirement fund, have no CC debt(thanks Dave Ramsey)... but travel and technology are things I splurge on. Kind of the anti-Luddite.
But I'm not paying these prices for one.
I'll wait. 😄
Re: They will die alone
But until then, they get to keep all their own money!
I’m starting to suspect ringers forming much of these lines in order to generate free PR.
The ringers might be receiving app store credit, discounts on the phones, etc.
At least this explains why Rush Limbaugh took today off.
lol
Good point!
That said, I have an order in for an iPhone 11 Pro, and am mulling checking out the line on my way into work so I can avoid waiting another 1-2 weeks for mine to show up in the mail.
Why am I sticking to iPhone?
- Security - Android has a LOT more security holes than iOS.
- Personal Privacy - none of these companies are perfect, but Apple seems like they don't want to sell your data. On the other hand, that seems to be the whole profit model of Android / Google.
- Longevity of device in terms of quality and support: I'm upgrading from an iPhone 5s, as support for that is finally being dropped. That's six solid years of upgrades and device longevity, six years of not spending money on upgrades.
- Speed: Sorry, your "Note 10" does NOT "blows the iPhone 11 away in speed". Apple's microprocessor design team is leading the industry right now, about 2 years ahead of everyone else. That speed pays off in an extra 2-3 years of device usability.
That said, the Note 10 does have that nice stylus, and you have many different app stores you can use. Tim Cook, the pinheaded leader of Apple pushes the homo agenda and open borders agenda left right up and down, and spearheaded moving US electronics manufacturing to dictatorial China. The anti-American jerkoffs running Google are worse, though, actively working to overthrow Trump. Both camps love censoring.
Next cycle, I'm looking a Purism, a new open-source phone effort.
Should I wait to buy my iPhone 11 Pro? Probably. I could save money doing some Black Friday sales madness. I just want to get this upgrade done and over. And yes, it's a bit of a new toy, and I work hard for my money, so I'll enjoy my purchase.
Not this year...
Apple fans crack me up (I’m a fan, BTW, but not rabid). It’s a phone people. A phone
If you do a true poll of most folks, the vast majority of iPhone use is relegated to calling, surfing, texting, and GPS-ing. With all of the feature enhancements over the years, those usage figures haven’t really changed much. Are new features interesting and sometimes helpful? Yes, but not so much that it warrants standing in line overnight and shelling out $1000 (which bumps up approximately $200 per new device) every year.
It’s a phone.
The iPhone 11 Pro will retail for $999, and the 11 Pro Max will retail for $1,099.
An astute and humorous comment. Hats off.
