Classic Movies that should never ever be remade?
Posted on 09/19/2019 6:58:06 AM PDT by Bigtigermike
In light of the heavy backlash from fans and celebrities over rumors of a possible remake of The Princess Bride, What other movies stands on its on as a classic (those near perfect movies) that should not be bastardized in being redone?
1. Godfather 2. Back to the Future 3. Die Hard 4. Shawshank Redemption 5. Original Star Wars, especially Empire Strikes Back 6. Rocky
What else?

I have an outline for a Blazing Saddles type movie with mostly actresses the best in Hollywood, Pussy Valley. In the spirit of Mel brooks rated NC17.

Would Like to see a series World War II from Hitler election to his death, all German viewpoint. "Generation War" was kind of like that, but that was after the war had started.

3 ends in the 70s? I would like to see the continuing story brought up to date. Garcia is still alive and they can still do the flash backs to the young sonny as Coppola planned.
maybe Sophia and her father working together on IV. Then in 20 years give us Godmother with maybe an Italian actress in the lead. Use historical events of the time and i creased tech
I have an outline for Godmother.

It truly was a tribute and IIRC Hitch watched it at Brooks house and loved it. Wonder if he caught all the references? LOL

There was a made-for-TV movie, “Hitler: The Rise of Evil” to showed Hitler’s rise to power. Robert Carlyle, portrayed Hitler.
But I’d rather see a German production than a Hollywood one.

Well “Das Boot” and “Stalingrad” were two good war movies from the German Perspective.

I would have said True Grit a few years ago, but that turned out great, IMO. Did you ever see the made for TV version of True Grit starring Warren Oates? I actually think it was better than the Duke's version, or at least on parr with it.

Then of course “Downfall” (yes, the one of the Hitler Parodies, but it is a great film)

John Hughes movies like:
The Breakfast Club
Sixteen Candles
Ferris Buehler’s Day Off
Other than that, I’d be fine with them remaking just about any movie created prior to 1970. I try, I really try, to rewatch the old classics. It just all seems so cheesily overacted by today’s standards.
I’m sure it’s sacrilege. But Bogart, Cagney, Stewart, even Wayne et al. just seem “cringey”.
