My Firefox froze up and won't shut down on my computer. This has been going on for the past hour and a half.
Use control panel to remove Firefox. Download a new version and install. Bet that solves your problem.
NOTE: You may need to temporarily download another browser, suggest Brave, to do the FF download.
NOTE: You can backup Firefox bookmarks to another file and then reload into the new version.
NOT a computer geek, but never had problems until I went with FF after they canned IE. Most of the problems I encounter with FF I have learned to deal with such as the cut, and paste where the cut doesn’t release, and opens again in different windows just to piss me off. I swear I can hear maniacal laughter sometimes when it happens.
Or when I go to shut down the PC, and it goes through the process only to come back on again all on its own. Then I have to reboot to get control of the PC again.
There’s other stuff, weird stuff that happens, but mostly I can left click the mouse, and then hit back button to clear whatever it is out of my way. It’s aggravating, but I don’t want to go Google, and now I know FF flawed as it is.
Using Firefox with Linux Mint and not having any issues even with a Firefox update installed a few days ago.
Have you tried shutting down the process from the task manager? (ctrl-alt-delete)
Could be just a corrupted profile and you may need to create a fresh one. Often a bad extension/add-on can cause this.
Did windows recently do that major update?
My Firefox was all screwed up after that. If I tried to open Firefox then I got a message that it was already open. I could close it with the task manager, but if I opened FF again that it did the same thing where it would not close properly. And firefox was not able to actually connect to the internet. And the preference settings got messed up. It took about 5 reboots before it started working again.
Download Brave, import your bookmarks, and wave bye to Firefox. The nagware (it’s worse than Java) and breaking of my add-ons finally drove me away.
As for closing it - have you tried using the task manager to end the process?
Yes.
You can probably import them to another browser and after you replace Brave import them back to Brave.
Oops
Sorry your problem is with Firefox
I highly recommend Brave by the way
Brave was started by the founder of Firefox after his company fired him for being donating money to a anti-gay marriage campaign.
You wrote my windows manual didn't you??
> I got rid of FF about a year ago.
I keep getting rid of every browser.
They’re all pretty bad. After how many years?
(posted using Firefox)
DT45....
OMG, I found "Classic Add On Archive" and it works within Palemoon to get all the old Classic Add-ons you loved. I hope to limp along forevah with this combo!
I LOVED WIN98SE
It has been one thing after another with FF for about a year and I am finally making the transition to Brave. So far, no problems. I only switch back to FF when I need the retrieve something from my history.
FF was frequently freezing, like you mention, and then it lost extensions, suddenly, after they did an upgrade, which they had to provide a quick fix for. Around that time, it greyed out the option to start with previous tabs, so all of my tabs with poof! Then it lost all of my passwords after I did a routine profile switch and I had to retrieve them from a backed up json file. Then it lost my passwords a second time for a different reason that I cannot remember. It has become really unstable and way more trouble than I want to put into it just to remain a loyal user.
Brave is now a mature browser and I am happy to be there instead.
I’ve been using Waterfox. Worth a try.
Not just a senior member.
CEO and co-founder Brendan Eich was forced to resign after he was outed for donating to a Anti-gay marriage campaign.
Whats Firefox?
A crappy movie Clint Eastwood stared in, But thats not important right now.
I think of base ball or the cast of the view
I uncheck it and install the other updates.
