Medical Underwriter here. That’s a big dosage. A typical Type II dosage for Metformin is 500mg and with diet and exercise not cutting it, then 1000mg. But 2000mg? Wow. and $$$.

How many of the “new” diabetes drugs have been recalled in recent years? I’m more inclined to stay with well known meds for diabetes.
Vildagliptin apparently is not in widespread use, at least in the US.
My husband’s type 2 has been brought under control with the Atkins diet. It’s amazing.
I wonder how many posts before some self rightous A-hole comes along and tells me it is my fault I have diabetes.
Of course, they will likely be the same A-holes who say it is my fault I have chronic cluster headache syndrome too.
IF you are NOT terribly overweight and have type-2; you may have been misdiagnosed...check into type 1.5 (LADA).
I was diagnosed in July. Already down from 280 to 260, maybe a little lower (last weighed 10 days ago).
A1C down from 8.7 to 7.8. Definitely watching my carbs.
Veterans Administration assigned me a very nice nurse practitioner, who, unlike most MDs I’ve encountered, is actually willing to listen to me.
She just halved my glypizide and said that if I get down to about 240 I should be off meds entirely. Hope she’s right.
