My son just gave me very hopeful news about the current children attending public schools. My son is currently taking classes to be certified to teach physics and math. In those classes in preparing him for teaching they prepare him to understand the mindset of the current generation of students. There has been a major shift in the level of skepticism regarding information.

The recent generation that has moved on from high school accepted anything and everything as true if they read it on Facebook, wikipedia or elsewhere on the internet. The current kids accept nothing. They believe there are no trustworthy sources.

His teachers see this as a problem. I see this as hope.

I can second this. My teen daughter and her friends are much more skeptical, and they love to mock the status quo. Her best friend describes himself as a “Classic Liberal” and idolizes Milton Friedman. They mock the snow flakes, those identifying as anything other than male or female, and the easily offended.
Granted, we live in a very conservative area of Florida, but earlier kids we knew were much more leftist and indoctrinated.

I’m still waiting for them to rebel. For the last 20-30 years youth have been terribly regimented, helicopter parented, zero tolerance, smoking age raised to 21, banning flavored e cigs, political correctness off the charts, #me too crap and so forth. My generation couldn’t have put up with this shit for a minute.

That observation is absolutely true in my experience. I hope you are correct about the upcoming generation.
