NORTH BLOOMFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) Deputies said they pulled over an Amish buggy complete with alcohol and a stereo system early Sunday morning.
Just before 1 a.m., Trumbull County sheriffs deputies said they saw two Amish men drinking alcohol while riding on the back of a horse and buggy.
The deputies said there was a 12-pack of Michelob Ultra on top of the buggy.
They pulled the buggy over at Donley and Mahan Parker Roads in North Bloomfield, Ohio.
Deputies said the people riding in it ran out into the trees while the horse continued down the road.
There were several open bottles of alcohol in the buggy, as well as a radio sound system, deputies said.
The buggy was towed and deputies found someone to take care of the horse until the owner comes forward.
“Rumspringa?”
I live near Amish. They all drink like fishes. They are big into homemade wines and craft bears
When theyre not working, the younger ones like to fight for fun.
After all, the horse had been programmed to know the way home... Seems to be a loophole that might be legally exploited.
AI cars would probably not have much of a problem in Ohio.
Where I lived the county road system was laid out in a grid like the Battleship game.
East-West roads were A, B, C, D, E.
North-South roads were 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Tell someone you live at B7 and you’re easily found.
It was flat enough to do that there.
“After all, the horse had been programmed to know the way home... Seems to be a loophole that might be legally exploited.”
There was a guy in my tiny home town who used to tie up his buggy behind the VFW.
He claimed that he couldn’t get a DUI because the horse was driving.
It worked until one night someone rear ended the rig and he was badly injured. The horse ran away, but they found it a day later.
That was the end of that.

Is boozen in a buggy illegal? It seems this horse was doing the driving—was the horse breathalyzer test illegal?
What could you bust these miscreants for?
What’s the problem? It’s not like they were driving from the back. The horse knew the way home and he wasn’t drinking.
I remember running out RT 30 west very early in the morning, taking a load to the State prison in Bellefont. This kid brings a single buggy out of this side road......I looked back in my right mirror and there was a whisker of room between my trailer and that horses nose.....and I bet a full load of manure in that kids lap. Everyone grows up different
I am close to a large group of Amish, and buggies with ghetto blasters and mass quantities of beer are a common occurrence.
Fwiw, my horse-trainer is Amish & Christian makes the BEST homebrew & peach/blackberry wine that I’ve ever had.
(Like in everything else, he is moderate in its use.)
TRUE FACT.
