ooker defends middle-ground health care approach: ‘We’re going to fight to get there’

Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.), a 2020 White House hopeful, defended his middle ground approach to universal health care Sunday.

NBC’s Chuck Todd said Booker seems to be trying to “bridge a divide” between former Vice President Joe Biden and Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) the three top candidates in the race.

“Yeah, look. I can’t stand these people that say these bright lanes. For me, I feel it when I talk to really good people on that stage that I know, that there is a unifying message here that, look, we are a nation with a savagely broken health care system. Not the guy that’s trying to take it away that’s in the White House right now,” Booker said on Meet the Press.

“We’ve seen since Obama Affordable Care Act number uninsured in this country go down significantly. We’re the party that’s trying to say, ‘Everybody should have health insurance.’ We’re going to fight to get there. We can put the ideal out there but walk and chew gum at the same time. In other words, not sacrifice progress for purity.”

And he should have added

...” and it will be FREE and available to anyone who happens to be in this country, citizen or not, vacationer or not, criminal or not, druggie or not. The rich will pay. That’s just who we are.”

Truth: no one gives a poop about “health insurance.” It’s not a great thing to have. With copays and premiums, it’s more expensive than paying cash for medical care. Or insurance companies wouldn’t do it.

What people want is affordable medical services. The best way to achieve that is for medicine to have fair prices with shopping customers. Every other service has it. Auto garages. Hair styling. You can find anything from $15 to $1500 for many services. Niches of quality and time. That is what people want. To buy a Med or see a doc at a reasonable cost.

We also can do business with “health insurance” companies that work like auto insurance. Mostly, too pricy to deal with for little things. But excellent just in case of catastrophe. It’s a bet that they take that you won’t need them often or at all.

If you think that our healthcare system is “broken” now, wait until the Dems “fix” it for you.

Heck we are getting insurance robo calls for a person whose been dead since 2002.

We also get them despite the fact we are fully covered with Medicare/Tricare Life. Only thing missing is Vision, Dental and Hearing unless it’s for the Service person and it’s service connected.

It wouldn’t be so expensive if it wasn’t all free for people who eat bad and don’t work

Can you imagine the media coverage if the Republicans had created the ACA?

There would be a newpaper and TV special every day about the terrible results of ObamaCare. Its high deductables — its INCREASED the uninsured — it costs an average person who’s working more than anyone can pay reasonably

My take on Obama Care ... a friend of mine, youngest of 3 sons, left life as a California musician to come home and take care of seriously ill elderly mom. Neither of the older two could be bothered. Friend, his live-in and Mom all lived together, shared all the bills. They were both able to sign up for Obamacare! Yay! Rainbows and unicorns and it rained glitter for awhile. Mom had a health crisis ... he couldn’t find a doctor who would accept ObamaCare. Friend and partner ended up working extra jobs to take care of Mom. Neither ObamaCare nor the rest of the family lived up to expectation.

Yep. Doctors will give you signficant discounts if you pay cash. Pretty soon that won't be legal, I'd bet.
