Finance ministers of the 28 European Union countries met in Helsinki on Friday to discuss measures to finance and encourage environmentally sustainable growth.
The meeting took place on the same day the governing coalition parties in Germany met to decide on climate measures targeting the transportation sector to ensure the country meets its 2030 goals to combat the climate crisis. Spending toward that end could approach a reported 75 billion ($83.6 billion). [ ]
The EU, says German Finance Minister Olaf Scholz, must find a way to put a sensible price on carbon dioxide emissions, optimally on an international level. I believe we are currently in a situation where many say wed like to do something on a national level, but no one else is. [ ]
The European Commission, the EUs executive arm, submitted a broad palette of possible methods for determining the price for climate damaging emissions in order to collect money to invest in climate protection.
The EU estimates that trillions, not billions, will be needed in the coming fight against climate change. [ ]
The new Commission, which will begin work in November, hopes to introduce a kind of tariff on carbon dioxide. The plan envisions assessing the sustainability of imports from third countries. Those with poor ratings will then be taxed accordingly.

The whole climate change boondoggle has always been about cutting U.S economic down to a size the Europeans feel they can compete against. Now which goods, from which country do you think they will target with a ‘co2 tariff’. The EU is the head of the globalist snake
Some truths to upset leftists:
Spending money is really the same thing as consuming energy. It is not possible to spend $83.6 billion without emitting massively more CO2 than before.
To improve the environment don't waste money but use it as efficiently as possible. Strive for maximum bang for the buck.
Spending money on fat bureaucrats is the most energy inefficient use of money possible. Big government has the biggest carbon footprint of all, and the least to show for it. The most efficient way to fight pollution is to fight for less taxes and smaller government.
Looking at the taxes and fees collected on every airline ticket it is easy to determine the biggest source of CO2 emissions is not the aircraft but the bureaucracy providing travel "services". Even with all the dead weight, airline travel is still the most energy efficient mode of people transport ever invented.
Hope you’re right.
Also, energy taxes are regressive taxes. The poor are hit hardest.
EU has its priorities. Brexit would be my first priority.
If you want better weather, just raise taxes. It’s working in California.
Have a nice day EU, and oh yeah you can keep your crappy cars.
Go ahead Yurps. Drive up your energy costs. Be my guest.
And since MMGW never existed in the first place, no one can prove it’s ended, therefore they can keep jacking up the tax to end it.
