The World's Most Important Electric Car Is Launching Now, And It's Not A Porsche Or Tesla
The Drive ^ | 9 Sept 2019 | EDWARD NIEDERMEYER

And unlike the fabulously-engineered Porsche and the standard-carrying Teslas, this electric car has genuine world-changing potential.

...we concluded that the impressive little car was at least as disruptive as anything Tesla has done... At the time, we heard whispers that Renault's best cost engineers were turning their attention to an electric version of the Kwid and now that it's been announced it's clear that the breakthrough we were hoping for is actually real.

Well, they've done it. With 100 miles of reasonably real-world range for under $9,000, Renault has accomplished something that Tesla will likely never be able to achieve and taken what may well be the most important next step for EV adoption. While the affluent West quibbles about lap times for six-figure vehicles, this modest little Renault is making sure that the millions of first-time car buyers in developing markets around the world ...

Where are all these amps, that are supposed to replace fossil fuels, supposed to come from, when you look at the evening rush hour, on a cold day, in the dark?

About 2% of US market is EV, some projections are for 7% by 2030.

Peak eclectic demand is day time summer.
Off-hours demand is less than half the peak.

Not to worry.

beautiful looking CGI.

The ICE version has been in production since 2015.

No CGI needed.

Battery powered cars should be required to recharge ONLY with electricity generated by solar or wind.

In Northern Il, you can sign up with any electric provider you choose!
And pay a service fee to Commonwealth Edison.

Easy Peasy!!

I thought that this was going to be an article on this pedal/electric “car”.

A hybrid with pedal assist?

Yeah, but that is not a real car in a natural setting.

Electric cars suck

A vague and nebulous complainant. A nothing burger.
Is that all you got?

We're talking Democrats. They have no problem with mandated engineering. They DEMAND it.

Ever tried to refuel your lawn mower with a mandated gas spout? Flush a lo-flow toilet? Replace the seals in your chain saw carb because the ethanol in the gas ate them? Take a shower with a restricted shower head? Recall the Double Nickle?

I have two sets of incompatible sockets and wrenches, because I want to fix old things, AND new things.

They could, but won’t stoop so low

Musk cannot afford to!

There are electric motors everywhere in building ventilating systems running 24/7, forever.

Not many ICE engines can make that claim.

And note the piston comes to a DEAD STOP, twice in each revolution.
Yes stopped and not moving!!!
A rotary electric motor simply keeps humming along.

Yeah, but that is not a real car in a natural setting.

The car has been produced for years all the real settings photos you want, just different power source.

Replace the electric batteries with a liquid fuel.

Add a carburetor and fuel injectors.

Replace the External Combustion with Internal Combustion.

Now I will buy it.

Buy a gasoline powered generator to charge the electric car.

It would be fast.

I have a homemade ultralight aircraft called a Skypup. It is a taildragger that is a little nose heavy. If you are taxiing downwind and the tailwind picks up too much it will weathervane so quickly that you typically do not even go off the pavement on a narrow taxiway. But it gives you a good surprise.

image google ‘Kwid’ and not a single picture of it there has a human standing next to it (how much they pay to get that kind of censorship?)

So I think some skateboards are larger ...

Unfortunately, as with all electric cars, the batteries wear out after some short number of years and have to EXPENSIVELY be replaced, AND they go down in capacity while they age —with extra spikes of LOW charging mileage when it Hot OR Cold.

Not many out there with a set up like that?

You ride one?
