How comfortable are you with the fact that: "Nearly 90 percent of adult smokers began smoking before age 18,"

Seriously, it isn't a conservative value to turn kids into addicts.

You (not individual you, the royal you) reduce the teen smoking/addiction numbers and I'll begin to listen to your adult rights.

I’m not a smoker nor am I a big fan of it. I will freely admit I don’t want it around me. I lived with it all my life from birth till about age 15 when my parents quit. My sister, and many of my aunts and uncles smoked on and on. I do believe second-hand smoke is not good. I suffered with terrible bouts of bronchitis when I was a kid because of it. I don’t intend to live with it anymore.

However, I don’t want to be a nazi about it. I don’t support TOTAL bans. I feel the rights of the business owners whether to allow it or not should be respected. I don’t have to patronize that bar or restaurant. I don’t like it when I am eating or drinking, that’s for sure.

The happy medium still exists but people in this country no longer care about it and no longer look for it. Those who desire outlawing and bans just want to control.

Then ban cereals, and other sugary garbage. That stuff turns them into Sugar addicts.

We need to start thinking about what kind of a world we are going to leave behind for him and Keith Richards.

Excellent. This is the thing I always think of before I lose control over something that triggers me. Pity more don’t do the same.

Nothing like a flippant remark to distract from the fact that you aren’t much different than the Elizabeth Warrens of the world. You just have a different order in the ways that you want government to control your life.

“I don’t mind being called a nasty a-hole by those who pimp death or addiction“

No you don’t mind it at all since you seem to live for it everyday in here for who knows how many years now. But here’s the thing I hope you understand: you fool no one about what motivates you to attack smokers. It’s not opposition to addiction or death, nor is it “for the children.” It’s straight up hatred masquerading as “virtue.” And you’re consumed by it. Very sad. Hatred is not a Conservative value.

Tell him you think taking guns away is due to a public health issue. I see he is a gun owner. :)

I thought that France had prohibited smoking in most food venues as well??

As someone who has traveled the world, I've noticed that smoking prohibitions are obeyed only in America. In other countries, they are ignored or treated as a social violation akin to driving slow in the left lane.

I smoke my daily cigar in peace.

My wife and I do not allow smoking in our house. One good thing about that is that I do not smoke many cigars any more. Cigar smoking for me takes place on the backyard deck. However, here in Texas, it is too hot to even think of trying to smoke one during summer and most of spring. So my cigars sit in the humidor waiting for cooler weather. I keep looking at the weather predictions. Nothing under 94° for at least the next two weeks, and several days at 97°. I guess I won't light one up until October.

I do not want my kids to smoke! That doesn’t mean I don’t respect adult choices. I’m ok with a whole lot less freedom for kids.
