Give the female “James Bond” a new name and I’m okay with that, but don’t pretend she’s the same person.
Bruce Jenner did not do any favors for “Woman of the Year”.
Stephanie Zimbalist was more of action type than Pierce.
So is her name James, or does she get a new one?
My name is Bond....Mary Sue Bond.
Wish I could sell the female Bind stock short. This one is a guaranteed loser.
“Do “hot” and “dumb” go together? Illogical. “
A cute woman with 44D cups does not need to know how to change a tire. A really well built, handsome man who can’t change a tire is a laughing stock.
Incidentally, our dad would not allow my sisters to drive until they could check the oil, water, battery and demonstrate they could change a tire. One sister resented it and the other did just great on the first try. The first went on to be a liberal hippy and the second became a federal agent.
Zoe Saldana
Cast me...PLEEEAAASSSEEEE cast me!
His Bond was an attempt to redo Sean Connerys Bond. Combine that with ehhh scripts and you have his Microwaved 007.
I remember seeing his remake of The Thomas Crown Affair at the movies and thinking: The sitting James Bond cant hold a candle to McQueen..
Bye, Pierce.
I never got him. He was good looking, but to me just never had the charisma of either Connery or Craig, whom I thought were the best Bonds.
Exactly - charisma!
Brosnan had increasingly ridiculous cartoonish scripts and was not believable as a real person, but rather a caricature of James Bond, and overdid the Bond cliches to the point of absurdity. His Bond was too damn perfect: always smooth, unflappable, confident, smug, etc., while other characters sneered about he was a "relic of the cold war".
Craig was an extreme knee-jerk reaction against the Brosnan years going off the rails, so we got a "Bond" who was NOTHING like the traits associated with the character. Craig's Bond is NOT handsome, charming, slick, or anything else that is normally associated with Bond. Craig looks like Vladimir Putin and always comes across as pissed off and hung over in his Bond movies, and he didn't even do any James Bond stuff (like get gadgets and exchange quips with Miss Moneypenny) until his third Bond film.
Craig has done two solid Bonds IN SPITE OF, and NOT because of, he was playing the title role. Unlike Brosnan, he had excellent scripts and direction in Skyfall and Casino Royale, he was just totally unsuited for the material.
The really sad thing is I think we are completely screwed in the current SJW environment in Hollywood, as I am 95% sure once Craig leaves the role they will decide that Bond being a white male is not "diverse" enough, and cast someone so awful as "Bond" that we'll be BEGGING Daniel Craig to come back. For this reason alone, Hollywood has basically gotten me to do something I never would have dreamed of a decade ago: they've actually convinced me to beg crappy worthless Daniel Craig to NOT retire from the role.
Look at how Hollywood has ruined Star Trek, Doctor Who, Terminator, etc., I have little doubt James Bond (as well as the post-Endgame Marvel Cinematic Universe) is next up on their classic characters to "re-imagine" and corrupt. Worse, Craig and Brosnan are openly encouraging this politically correct madness, with Brosnan fawning over the idea of a female James Bond and Craig saying outlandish stuff like Bond should have a gay sex scene.
I feel sorry that Timothy Dalton inherited the Bond role at exactly the worst time in the film franchise. In an ideal world, Dalton could have been Bond for 12 years and done a half dozen films. He certainly deserved the amount of time that Connery and Moore got.
He was so insufferably smug and arrogant in so many of his acting gigs. He took the worst aspects of “winking at the camera” of Sir Rog and trebled down. I don’t care for the present portrayer, because he is too cold and charmless. I last liked Timothy Dalton, who brought just the right balance of charm and panache. He owned the role the moment he dropped in. Thankfully, “Remington Steele” kept BonBons from taking the role instead of Dalton.
You were writing that at the same time I wrote my short post. Pretty much in agreement on all of that. Daniel Craig reminds me of the henchman Jason Morgan on “General Hospital.” If he was playing a DIFFERENT 007 character, he might be suitable, but he’s not the Fleming Bond.
Love Craig, al.ost as much as Connery.
Well played northislander!
The number, yes, the name, no.
“...Craig looks like Vladimir Putin and always comes across as pissed off and hung over in his Bond movies,...”
Haha!!! Spot-on, Billy.
“...a “relic of the cold war”. ...”
That’s also a good descriptor for ME.... :^)
Ill say it again: Roger Moore did the best he could with mostly crap scripts.
Sean Connery is and always will be the best Bond; that trophy’s been retired. But he had the cream of the crop, script-wise.
Maybe its that I grew up with Moore as 007, but I like him and his portrayal as Bond.
If George Lazenby hadnt whatever he did, he could have had a very nice run as Bond too.
Moore is “The Saint”...he was an ok Bond but had nothing to work with script-wise. We agree on that!
Completely agree about Connery!!
Lazenby could have been a very good Bond. The story I heard was he let the role go to his head why too soon. Demanded “BIG STAR” treatment before he deserved it.
I enjoy The Saint a lot. I also really like It Takes A Thief.
Moore had pretty much crap to work with. What I like about his Bond is that he didnt try to copy Connery; he pretty much Simon Templar-ed the role. I can live with that.
Lazenby: I read that too. It would be nice if he came clean with why he left the role.
