Pierce Brosnan saved the world four times as James Bond, a career milestone he cites as his biggest achievement.
The actor says now is the time to pass the legendary role onto a woman, as Lashana Lynch is rumored to take over as the next 007 from Daniel Craig in the upcoming No Time to Die installment.
Yes!' Brosnan said of the prospect of a female Bond. "I think we've watched the guys do it for the last 40 years, get out of the way, guys, and put a woman up there. I think it would be exhilarating, it would be exciting, he said.
However, he expressed doubt that the change will play out on screen under the current producers. I don't think that's going to happen with the Broccolis. I don't think that is going to happen under their watch," he said.
As for how the franchise should approach the seductive spy character in the #MeToo era, Brosnan said Bond will have to change with the times.
Without question, yes... The #MeToo movement has been relevant and significant and well needed in our society, so they'll have to address that, he said.

Well, at least Pierce has us covered for a effeminate Bond.
Agree
Yes in the Lazenby Bond file, Diana Rigg was the established star not him ! He supposedly demanded equal treatment/status. He should have been happy with his 2nd banana. Happy he now had the chance of a lifetime. Established his star bona fides with the next film.
It took 8 years for Rog to get a real non-over-the-top script in “For Your Eyes Only.” “Moonraker” was really just the nadir of the franchise to that point. Star Wars Bond. Rog did a non-Bond movie about that time which was pretty good, in case you ever get the chance, called “ffolkes.”
I enjoyed Lazenby in OHMSS. It is a shame he blew it. He went flaky during the promotion period of the film, turned into a hippy and got mixed up with some shady personal “guru.” All that blew his chance at super-stardom.
Yes, yes.
Diana Rigg was HOT back then. Goodness...
Golden Gun was fun. Spy Who Loved Me was too.
FYEO was the best Moore Bond film, IMHO.
Moonraker: Yeah...
I liked ffolkes. Havent seen it in probably......25? years though.
Lazenby definitely FUBARd his career. Alas.
HE’S BACK!!!!!!
@heartiste on gab
Charisma of CRAIG?! Dude, a wooden plank has more charisma than Daniel Craig.
Craig is the antithesis of charisma. Just a cold-blooded thug. Sort of like Bond as Red Grant (but, gee whiz, Robert Shaw had charisma !) or the other blonde villainous thugs over the years.
"You'll never get out of here alive, Mr. Bond!"
"Try me."
Of course, that doesn't mean I think he's LIKELY to get the part. As I noted, in this environment, I wouldn't be surprised if Hollywood cast a black lesbian in the title role and then called us all racist sexist homophobes when we objected.
I thought Craig was good as Tuvla Bielski in “Defiance”, the WWII movie about the Belorussian partisan brothers.
He was a passable Bond.
But Connery owned it, like he owned every role he played.
Sean Connery, one of the best actors of our day.
“...then called us all racist sexist homophobes when we objected. ...”
My answered would be ... “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but your New Bond Still blows Moosedick...”
Craig was excellent in Layer Cake.
Sean Connery: Turned 89 a couple weeks ago.
89... damn.
Clint Eastwood is up there as well.
Love him as Bond.
A few years or so back, he was in an excellent series, "The Knick." It gave you an idea of what he was capable of.
My name is Bond, Lucille Bond........
I dunno. The last pic he looks like a cross between BonBons and John Stamos.
It’s funny we always forgave Connery for his brogue, no matter what role he played. American, Irish, Russian, et al.
