Earlier this year, I had just finished with the Snowfall writers room for the season when I took a similar job on a different show at a different network. Id been in the new room for a few weeks when I got the call from Human Resources. A pleasant-sounding young man said, Mr. Mosley, it has been reported that you used the N-word in the writers room.
I replied, I am the N-word in the writers room.
He said, very nicely, that I could not use that word except in a script. I could write it but I could not say it. Me. A man whose people in America have been, among other things, slandered by many words. But I could no longer use that particular word to describe the environs of my experience.
I have to stop with the forward thrust of this story to say that I had indeed said the word in the room. I hadnt called anyone it. I just told a story about a cop who explained to me, on the streets of Los Angeles, that he stopped all niggers in paddy neighborhoods and all paddies in nigger neighborhoods, because they were usually up to no good. I was telling a true story as I remembered it.

They are so progressive there that for a person of color to factually describe a racist incident is too uncomfortable for them to handle.
Someone might be more offended and more of a victim than the person who actually experienced it. SJWs are like that.
He got great comments.
Wanna be really progressive?
Let a white person factually describe a racist incident.
To quote Eddie Murphy from his Delirious performance, “You brought that $#it on yourself”. While I see some of his points, framing it in the context of him being in some kind of protected class undermines everything he says. Were he white, he would have been fired.
Mosley is African-American and Jewish. That’s gotta get you some mojo.
Mosley was born in California. His mother, Ella (born Slatkin), was Jewish and worked as a personnel clerk; her ancestors had immigrated from Russia.
His father, Leroy Mosley (19241993), was an African American from Louisiana who was a supervising custodian at a Los Angeles public school.
His parents tried to marry in 1951 but, though the union was legal in California where they were living, no one would give them a marriage license.
There are worse things than being called a name.
In 2010, there was a debate in academic literary circles as to whether Mosley’s work should be considered Jewish literature.
Similar debate has occurred as to whether he should be described as a black author, given his status as a best-selling writer.
Mosley has said that he prefers to be called a novelist.
California - particularly San Francisco - was one of the most racist places I ever lived. Whites hated blacks, and blacks seriously hated whites. Hispanics were caught in the middle in areas where they didnt have a huge community, such as San Francisco.
I grew up in NYC, which had its own problems...for example, black teachers could teach only in the primary grades - or teach the, er, developmentally disabled, or whatever theyre calling them these days. When I moved to CA and worked in a kindergarten classroom with a brilliant black teacher, she told me that she had always wanted to teach high school ...but until Brown vs Bd of Ed., black teachers could only teach kindergarten or special ed.
So the idea that either one of the coasts was somehow a paradise for blacks was certainly false.
Mr. Mosely is finding out the intolerance of those demanding tolerance.

Sad.
There used to be 7 words you couldn’t say on TV. Now you can say those anywhere but can’t say the N-word even in your nasty thoughts.
I once repeated an old Redd Foxx story at work - where he used salty language and then joked about it. “Let me take you outside and slam your hand in my car door. You’ll say sh*t, f**K AND N***er”! When I said the punchline there was just an awkward silence - guess I’m lucky somebody didn’t call HR.

Blacks love and use the word ‘Nigger’ more than any white people. We sound like 4 year olds calling it “the’N’ Word”.I say it for shock value so I can have people lecture me. I tell them that if it’s such a bad word, then outlaw it....then watch blacks scream bloody murder.
“I replied, I am the N-word in the writers room.”
LOL
but paddy & paddies are ok...
Glad I scrolled all the way down because that was my observation also.
And referring to Irish-Americans as “paddies” is every bit as offensive as using the word “nigger”. Maybe we can start calling it the P word.
I have become quite niggardly in much of my vocabulary!
