Oh wow cool! I haven't seen kites in a loooong long time!! I grew up in the 1960s and 1970s in New York, and around the early 1970s there was this HUGE fad with kites, I mean tons of kids every day after school in my neighborhood would go to this open field and the sky would be absolutely flooded with kites. I don't know if this went on in other states, but wow I remember that like it was yesterday, it was a total obsession to see who could get their kite the highest. My favorite was the Gala bat kite which they still sell to this day...

I read a book some years ago called "The Kite Runner" about two boys in Afghanistan who flew kites. It was excellent.
A movie was made from the book and it was very good too.
For anybody who is a kite fan, this book and movie are a must read and see.
