I could’ve solved that in my head, had I known they were having a problem with it.

I’m flummoxed.

How is Y = 80435758145817515 actually “33” and

how is Z = 12602123297335631 actually “42”?

Why is this equation important?

“The answer, which took over a million hours of calculating to prove, is as follows:

X = -80538738812075974 Y = 80435758145817515 Z = 12602123297335631”

‘prove’ >> ‘solve’.

I guess the unstated assumption is that the values have to be whole numbers? Otherwise it could just be 1, 1 and the cube root of 40.

Also is there some reason there is only one solution? I would think there’s an undefinable number if combinations.

However mathematically inclined these people are and how smart they probably think they are they probably still think that man controls the climate on the planet Earth not the sun. Let that sink in.

Did anyone check their work?

I get 1097846267026460000000000000000000000. Not 42.

What is more amazing, although not resulting in such a use of excess computing power, is that we all spent some portion of our day reading the article and the comments and posting. That’s a shame!

I noticed they did not give an answer for 33. Give me a minute here while I do this .....

Yep that's it

(8,866,128,975,287,528)³ + (–8,778,405,442,862,239)³ + (–2,736,111,468,807,040)³ = 33.
