Marriage isn’t as popular as it once was. In fact, the marriage rate in the U.S. is the lowest it’s been in at least 150 years, reports PBS.
A new study, published in the Journal of Marriage and Family, may have one explanation as to why: There aren’t enough “economically-attractive” men — ones with a good income and a stable job — for single women to marry.
In the study, researchers examined couples in heterosexual marriages from 2008 to 2012 and 2013 to 2017, compiling character profiles (education and income levels) of the husbands. When they analyzed the pool of available men for these economically-attractive traits that demographically-similar single women might look for, there was a shortage of potential matches.
The researchers hypothesized that potential husbands for the single women had an average income nearly 60 percent higher than the actual pool of available men. They were also 30 percent more likely to be employed and 19 percent more likely to have a college degree compared to current bachelors.

What’s wrong with it is that men are strongly attracted to youth in women. Telling men to just “get over it” or to stop having a very strong preference for youth is a fool’s errand. It is no more going to happen than women are going to stop being attracted to status and resources in a mate.
Men liking what they like and women liking what they like is not a character flaw. It is not the result of society. No amount of political will is ever going to change it. It is the product of millions of years of evolution. Those preferences are hard wired into our brains. We might as well just accept it and act accordingly. Guys.....set yourselves up to have a good career. Girls....do not wait until your youth is gone before getting serious about finding a marriage partner.
Those are the “high maintenance” women who want you to slave away so they can spend your money—I could spot them a mile away—and always stayed far away from them.

My wife noticed it also. She said her mom told her women would have to marry an unnattractive guy in the old days(pre 1960’s or 70’s) if he had a good job and could support her out of necessity.
Today women can support themselves so the ugly guys who would get married back in the days are now single. Incels as they call kit. Women who are single and having kids are having sex with the more attractive guys.
Years past ugly women were at the bottom of the totem pole. Now it’s ugly males.
If you are an ugly male today you are really screwed.
It’s not a socio-cultural mindset. It’s biology. It’s not going to change.
Even if the man doesn’t want kids, he is still attracted to young healthy females most likely to be able to produce healthy offspring.

Sounds like a great guy. What’s weird is the amount of women who are educated, smart and basically have it going who will move in with a lazy dead beat guy, support him etc. while overlooking your son.
I know I know it does not make sense. Women are confusing.

I do not think that has changed. What has changed is that previously a woman could not divorce a guy and clean him out. If she wanted the $$$ she had to stick with him. Today, she can take it all and move on.

I do not agree. Tattoos, piercings, FAT. Dress like skanks. Bad attitudes. The only thing they have going these days is they shave more parts.

I doubt it. You are just older and the high school girls are the same age.
White middle class males were screwed by college entrance boards in the 90s -2000’s in favor of diversity... so about 40% of them don’t have college degrees / don’t have great job prospects. So their careers have lower earning arcs.
Women are complaining about this. As women have taken over in the work place, I see more wellness programs, more diversity training, more feel good initiatives... but I see less and less hours each week dedicated to actual work.
Whatever helps you sleep at night. Insults are what feminists use. We’re merely awake to what they do, and try to explain to men the dangers of marriage.
You must mean this :
When there are no societal constraints women will compete for the most attractive men (alphas—strong social skills and physical appearance) but the alphas have so many women competing for them they have no need or desire to marry.
Women’s refusal to “marry down” is not just financial.
These women do not want to have sex with or marry betas (average looking guys with minimal social skills) who may have some financial resources—until the women “hit the wall” and are no longer fit and attractive.

Well my son is attractive, almost too good looking, women chase him, and he is frustrated by the younger women’s behaviors... They tend to be slutty. Women sometimes stop when he is doing somethign like gassing the car to say, God you’re beautiful...if I wasnt married... He finds it embarrasing. He does Karate, weightlifting, some MMA. Bigger guy with no fat.
As I said, he would make a nice woman a great husband and at home dad to their many I hope children.
More plastics done younger. When I was a girl, just the Jewish girls had their noses done at 13 at camp that summer.
Now everyone has noses done, ears pinned back, orthodontia, makeup, hair dyed in grammer and jr highschool, and implants by highschool
