Growing demand for donkey meat and skin in China is causing a sharp decline in the animals in Kenya. Animal rights campaigners warn that donkeys could soon disappear in the east African country, where they play a vital role as beasts of burden, especially in rural areas.
Since 2014, four abattoirs have been set up in Kenya to meet demand. The meat is considered a delicacy in China and the skins are processed to create ejiao, a traditional remedy used to treat everything from anaemia to dizziness. However, according to a recent report by the African Network for Animal Welfare (ANAW), the slaughterhouses are operating at below half their capacity.

Beef? The downsides you mentioned compensated by premium price.
They need to start eating themselves. No need for abortions then.
Many moons ago I read a horrifying news article about the ChiComs’ abortion industry. Some of the fetuses were quietly . . . consumed and/or sold (for consumption) by medical staff, while large stainless steel vats full of fetuses were shipped to the West for use in beauty products. This was back during the ChiComs’ “one child” and forced abortion days.
Give them time...
The ChiCom “Belt and Road” plan is to offer loans to Tin-Pot dictators for fantastic modern infrastructure with lots of graft packed into the deal for the dictator and cronies. then when the tin-pot nation can’t make the payments foreclose and take control of the infrastructure and the nation. Many East African harbors have fallen into the ChiCom’s hands that way.
Right now the ChiCom’s are offering to build 3 international airports in Greenland.

Superstitious nitwittery.
“If theres a huge demand it is probably very hard to keep your breeder stock from being stolen by rustlers and sold to the Chinese slaughterhouses and the Chinese probably arent too particular about making sure they are buying legitimately owned animals.”

Note: the authors are not conservative, quite the opposite, but the points made are clearheaded, and the research is excellent.
“Bleak future for Kenya donkeys, sold to slaughter or left to go feral”
Apparently, one of the four slaughterhouses is locally owned by a Kenyan.
F-ing chinks , I have to say , I hate them more time by day. A truly despicable ppl. We should have nuked them out of existence in 1950. Maybe will get another shot someday ....
