The NFL and NBA are completely DEAD to me. I don't recognize the sports from what I remember decades ago. So I don't watch nor attend any of the games. (I still like baseball and hockey though)
Since I don't watch NFL games, I didn't see it tonight, but I understand Meek Mill is some hip hop / rap "artist" who has served a lot of hard time in prison. And of course he's not exactly a great role model for kids. Which makes him a popular hip hop 'singer' I guess.
Get used to many, many more 'openings' (and half time shows) like the one you saw tonight with Meek Mill. Roger Goodell hired Jay Z as 'NFL Entertainment Director' or some such title. Jay Z also now apparently owns a piece of one of the NFL teams.
It's the "new" NFL now dontcha know. No more country, rock or other normal music. It's all gonna be hip hop / rap / crap from now on. Get on board, or else! /sarc

I just watched the first 15 seconds and the lyrics make as much sense as the shit Jay Z puts out. I have always wondered how Jay Z is so popular because his rap has no flow and makes no sense lyrically. Give me some Eazy E.!!
