Ivanka Trump descended upon Bogota, Colombia, this week to talk about womens empowerment and left us talking about her sleeves. They were voluminous, bell-shaped swaths of green fabric. As the first daughter stood in solemn formation with the Colombian vice president, the sleeves caught a draft and attempted to launch themselves away from her body. Midair, they formed into perfect circles, and this became the hallmark photograph of the trip. Ivanka Trump from the neck up was on a mission of benign diplomacy. From the neck down, flying saucers.
Its shallow to call attention to a minor clothing malfunction, but this viral sleeve image is what alerted many people to the fact that Ivanka Trump who, after all, is not an elected official with a dedicated press corps was in Latin America at all.
To understand exactly what she was doing there, your best hope was to follow the itinerary she unspooled on Instagram: She launched the Academy of Women Entrepreneurs, which, she said, was designed to equip women with the practical skills they need to create sustainable businesses and to participate more fully in the global economy. She participated in a wreath-laying ceremony. She met with Colombias president and vice president, and then she prepared to head to Argentina and Paraguay for more of the same.
Ivanka abroad seems to be Ivankas platonic ideal of herself: doing things that are considered patriotic but not overly political, important but not controversial, and personally on-brand. If you believe the rumors that Ivanka will run for office one day, you see her social media presence as fodder for a future campaign ad. MORE AT LINK

Yes and yes.
ok.......
The new liberal narrative is “he married his foreign handler”. That SHE is the foreign agent controlling him.
Ridiculous, attention-grabbing outfit . She better never get the brilliant idea of trying to get her father to wear a puffy shirt.
I've always questioned Ivankas involvement as she seemed to me to upending Melania’s role initially..until she moved into the whiteHouse...so I figured Ivanka was sort of a fill in til she got there. However......I think Ivanka got a "taste' of the Power of Washington and determined she would use the Power of her father's position to carry out 'her desires' for womens issues...which she's now taken worldwide. I have mixed feelings about Ivanka acting like a US Representative.....which it doesn't seem anyone really knows what or how she was appointed as or to do with....she just shows up.
Personally I wish that President Trump would tell Jarvanka to pack their bags and go home to run their own families and their own businesses, and leave running the nation to him.
He, and we, would be so much better off without Ivanka’s ‘progressive’ influence on a doting Daddy.
We can't do anything to get her up to half Annie Coulter's intellectual level...

I've said this so mny times on FR that I have nothing left but enemies on this site now. Don't know how everyone else gets away with it.
Maybe they all hate me too; I don’t know.
But I haven’t noticed a lot of Jarvanka love here.
Maybe a few but not a majority.
So, a modest jungle green dress with an flaring sleeve got some attention. Great! It's for a good cause — and it's certain the Columbian people were honored by her visit BTW, she has pursued the same "women and entrepreneurship" program in other countries like Japan.
Wherever she goes Ivanka sends the not-so-subtle message that a three-child mother of class, intelligence, executive ability, fitness, and beauty was raised by the U.S. President.
And Ivanka's diplomat efforts are a tributary of President's Great River diplomacy that mixes strong engagement, personal relationships and openly laying cards on the table.
Javanka has been doing fantastic work in the Middle East. And they secured a breakthrough in Mexico who is now helping us greatly on our border.
As for the old school diplomatic corps (Kissinger and the Harvard Kennedy school), they need to be called out for:
So Ivanka, keep up the good work! And wearing those eye-popping sleeves is a brilliant entrepreneurial idea in a country the Equatorial circle crosses.

Ah, but Monica Hesse is no ordinary columnist. In 2018 she was promoted to the esteemed role of "Gender Columnist" at the Amazon Washington Post!
Look at the stories she's written as noted in a WaPo PR piece:
Definately an events and personality-focused girl reporter. Ideas? Not so much.
Kind of ironic - many here fret she has too much sway with her dad and the Left frets she doesn’t try to exert her will over him...
At least she kept her yarbles covered.
