It only seems fair to their customers if they want to eliminate personal safety of their customers, leaving them defenseless to armed criminals and or mental cases, you would think these companies, some of which are worth hundreds of billions, will step up to provide adequate armed security for them.

who have requested their patrons disarm before entering their stores, I don't believe that's what they did; if I'm not mistaken, they just don't want open carry.

I think you are correct...Nothing has been said about concealed carry as far as I know...And I think armed security at these places , especially because of the pharmacies (drugs), is a good idea...

Ive lived in high security countries where entrances to stores and things would have detectors in addition to guards.
And I have never been to a Walmart..do they tend to have security?
To: dragnet2
There is one Walmart nearby which does have an armed guard. I don’t like going there but it’s the only place around that carries Black Velvet Reserve.

That ought to make me feel safe in the Walmart store. Its only about a block long.

I’ve seen sheriff deputies assigned quite often at the Walmarts located in high population densities of the feral, low-IQ types. I think it’s more for visibility in an attempt to reduce and/or thwart frequent shoplifters rather than for stopping a mass shooting per se. Regardless, at least it’s a good guy with a gun in there should it happen.

I carry concealed in Walmart all the time. If some idiot starts to shoot customers and I am in the immediate area I would have to consider myself a "First Responder".
It would take the local police several minutes to reach the store. No need for armed security where I live in AR. A large percentage of the shoppers are armed. I wonder if that frightens the Communist sympathizers at the Walmart home office?

My wife works at a very small CVS store—we will see if this really happens in the small stores with light traffic—count me skeptical.

Well thats certainly where its headed. No? Well, they can't lose sleep over what they don't see. Unless they're planning to search me when I walk in, in which case I will shop elsewhere.

I worked at Wamu bank for many years. Our branch was robbed so corporate put a rent a cop in branch.
Yup, he sat in the lounge chairs and slept. The other one went and tried to hustle chicks that worked in the branch...
the other wanted to jawbone me but when I refused he called me a racist and then slashed the tires of my car....

PS:
I moved to NM 15 years ago and have only JUST started seeing armed guards and police around some of the stores.
Apparently there are hordes of white straight christian males plaguing these places with crime.
