Today’s Cryptogram

Y UKVJBYBKQ OJ Y GOQGDWYSOUZ WOXQYQN VOSP POZP XWCCF BQKJJDQK. –YQSPDQ “XDZJ” XYKQ

You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter.

For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s Cryptogram.

If you're just starting out on these, be patient, as you'll be proficient in no time.

If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hal’s Helper below:

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

HAL'S CRYPTOGRAM HELPER

THE IN THING NOW IS TO SCROLL DOWN TO MAGNUM44’S “HELPFUL HINT” BEFORE YOU SOLVE THE PUZZLE.

Today’s puzzle is from the Arkansas Gazette.

More difficult than yesterday, but not by much.

Yeah, a little harder than yesterday, but not so hard as to be disheartening. =)

May be true BUT radio/TV/net have successfully indicated that the (today) subject is relevant if you want yesterdays stories tomorrow, with (maybe) the saving grace being it is allowed to go deeper into a subject.

crapola…

Yes, I was going to say at some point that, as fun as it is solving the quote, its clear that the newspaper source for these uses quotes that are as slanted as the rest of the MSM news these days.

Its nice to see Plato, Socrates, Shakespeare, etc. Those poets and philosophers could be both insightful as well as witty (and I really enjoy good wit). Other more contemporary authors seem to hold themselves and their 'bits of wisdom' in the same high regards as Aristotle while they espouse a socialist or other agenda.

That was my frustration finding a good meme yesterday. The author was a proponent of eugenics, basically a Nazi in another name, despite being the founding president of Stanford.

Trust me when I say, that I filter out about 50% of the Cryptquotes posted in syndication. I would agree the majority have a liberal slant.

I was thinking of not posting on Sunday, but instead I’m going to post a CG that going to be religious and/or uplifting.

Your hints are really fun, and no one expects you to have one every day. the last couple CGs have been difficult to to target a funny clue.

I’m wondering if anyone has some pull with Jim Robinson, whereby we get our own topic listing eg “Word of the Day”. We of course, would like to see, “Today’s Cryptoquote”.

In todays vernacular probably so.

BUT

Probably a valid statement for the era it was made

This would have made a better quote for the day, and supports my point about timeless authors:

“Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.” ― Benjamin Franklin.
