Clinician scientists from Bristol Medical School and the Bristol Eye Hospital examined the case of a teenage patient who first visited his GP complaining of tiredness. The link between his nutritional status and vision was not picked up until much later, and by then, his visual impairment had become permanent.

Mama always said to eat your carrots
The link of other "poor" habits and blindness was well-established in those earlier FR threads as well.
No, this article linked the association between a child’s mental health and eating. It also established a link to criminal parental neglect.
Finicky eaters are Blind to the Facts
That’s what my mama always said.
Science and common sense collide.

What interested me in this story is that it could lead (could) to a link between crazy food fads in general (such as vegan) and poor health. And the fact that Science Daily (which is a Global Warming Religion parishioner) is willing to skirt the line and possibly post material potentially critical of the vegan religion. Maybe not all leftist religions are equal. Science Daily would NEVER post anything even FAINTLY critical of GW religion.
But too many stuff themselves with carbs and get affected by the most insidious of all diseases — diabetes. Many diabetics lose their eyesight.
I remember when my second child was born, I was living in SF and the people in the next room to the waiting room (in the hospital where the OB Dr was) were black teenagers from one of the ghettos there. Yes, liberal San Francisco was very segregated.
In any case, it was a Catholic hospital and they had a project going on to prevent infant and maternal mortality that involved medical personnel and a nutritionist. The nutritionist had asked the girls to write down what they had eaten the day before. Reponses? Nothing but potato chips and sodas.
The nutritionist had a chart where she would track how they had followed the diet plan and how many had added vegetables, real meat, or even taken their pre-natal vitamins. I think there was only one of them who actually did any of this.
Btw, they all got food stamps, welfare up one side and down the other, and their medical was being paid for...So its not a lack of resources.
This kid in England actually sounds pretty typical. I couldnt believe it until I saw it, but many lower income Brits appear to live on something called a c chips buddy, which is a sandwich of white bread and French fries.
So that masturbation leads to blindness meme was a lie?

And the thing about eating that kind of food is it doesn’t really satisfy anything but your superficial taste addictions, your body is not satisfied as it would be after a real meal. So you crave more and more food, and eat more and more chips, and get bigger and bigger.
I am reaching a conclusion that diabetes is not due to excess carbs alone, rather it is a combination of carbs and lack of exercise. In my own case, since I began doing treadmill every other day, my A1C has dropped to safe levels. And I actually have reduced my intake of meat because heart disease killed my father, and all uncles on both sides. I just do not need all that saturated fat floating in blood stream. My next birthday I will be celebrating 80th, with normal blood glucose levels, and no heart disease, and I can mow the lawn in Florida’s hot and humid summers with a push mower. I bet social security hates me now. But Medicare probably likes me since I have almost zero medical bills.
I was always told you can just do it until you need glasses.
damm nobody told me that in my early 20’s when I first needed glasses.
I was always told that Slapping Skippy would make you go blind.
