I was watching a reporter on Melbourne Beach yesterday getting sand blasted. Some people behind her looking for things the surf washed up. Maybe somebody got lucky.

One night on the beach in Deerfield we watched a helicopter, a CG Cutter and a CG fastboat converge on a vessel a short distance beyond the breakers a few blocks to the north. The helo broke off and started running up and down the beach with a spotlight scanning the surf. Minutes later a CG 45’(...ish) entered the surf line and they appeared to gaff a couple of bales.
As we watched, a strapping young guy with a crew cut and an anchor tattoo (big giveaway) came “jogging” by and asked what the commotion was all about. My friend said it looks like they are fishing marijuana bales out of the surf. The guy said, “Cool! have you seen any wash up? Anyone get anything?”
Haha, the guy was a Coastie.
A short time later we left the beach and were walking in the crosswalk across the main drag and I noticed headlights come on. Looking up the street, I noticed a couple of vehicles parked on either side of the road facing the crosswalk and each time anyone or a group of people would cross, the vehicles would turn their headlights on. Those vehicles were pretty sketchy. Not sure which side they were on but the Miami Vice theme was definitely playing in my mind that night
