More Great White Sharks Are Being Spotted Off Nova Scotia's Coast

More great white sharks than ever are being spotted off the coast of Nova Scotia—including a 10-foot female who pinged in Halifax's harbour last month. Sharks aren't new visitors to these waters—about 20 different kinds of sharks have been regularly inhabiting the area for hundreds of years. But, just as grizzly bears aren't native to Nova Scotia's forests, great whites were never a run-of-the-mill sighting here.(snip)

For the past few years, Warren Joyce, a fisheries technician with Fisheries and Oceans Canada, has been working with colleagues in Cape Cod, studying and tagging sharks in efforts to learn about their patterns in Canadian waters. "Until [we] and other groups around the world started tagging more of these animals, we didn't have a good estimate on just how common they actually were," he said. Joyce says the apparent increase in white sharks is in part due to the endangered species finally reaching a recovered population status, and also due to modern technology allowing us the ability to see what's always been swimming below the surface.

IMHO The reason for the increase in white sharks in Nova Scotia, and I would also suspect in Maine waters is the Federal protection of white sharks in 1997 has resulted in big increase in white shark numbers on the East Coast. The whites are feeding in great mnumbers on the seal buffet on Cape Cod beaches but unlike us, the White sharks don't eat daily, and more likely eat a seal every 10 days. This means some of them could be easily up in Nova Scotia looking for their next seal meal, since they can easily cover 50 or more miles in a day.- Tom

White Nationalism spreading to the Ocean is clearly a result of global climate change, which we can all agree is Donald Trump’s fault.

More importantly, now everyone is going to need a bigger boat, further causing impact on our environment.

The only solution is for ANTIFA to dive right on and confront these ocean going racists on their own ground.

Saw a documentary years and years ago that showed how sharks would avoid a line between two electrodes with a small current flowing between them.

Seems like a system of electrodes could keep a beach shark free..............

Uhm, does this apparent incrase of great white sharks being spotted off the coast of Nova Scotia have anything to do with white privilege? Are there any African American sharks or Mexican sharks that we could introduce up there to even number of white privilege sharks?
