An NFL team has offered womens soccer star Carli Lloyd the chance to become the first woman to kick in an NFL preseason game, after she drilled a 55-yard field goal at the Eagles training camp.
Why the NFL would put a woman in a position of being injured is anyones guess.
Lloyd uncorked her kick after being invited to the Philadelphia Eagles training session last week, and video of the kick went viral, Fox Sports reported.
This week, Lloyds trainer, James Galanis, noted that the soccer star had been approached by several other NFL teams to play for them in a preseason game.
The one that called today, I dont want to say who it is, was willing to put her on the roster for their next (game). They were willing to put her on the roster, Galanis told Fox Sports.
However, that deal may not occur. She was told (she could) play on Thursday, the NFL game, but she is playing Thursday with the national team, so that was the conflict, the trainer added.

You can if the kicker boots it out of the endzone every time. I don’t think she can even come close to the goal line with her kick-offs
Publicity stunt. But if she can consistently make 55 yard field goals then why not?
I saw the video of her making the 55 yard field goal. She took at least 6 steps before she kicked. NFL kickers use a 3 step kick. If they tried 6 steps just about every attempt would get blocked. I doubt that Carli could generate enough power in 3 steps to make a field goal at even half the distance of the one she did in the video. In other words, just a stunt.
Would this be a feminist step forward for women, to see a woman play in the NFL?
I heard that there was a woman last year, somewhere in minor league baseball. And some think we will see a Jackie Robinson type moment to see a woman play major league baseball eventually.
Hell, I'd be happy if they had 80% white guys. Since the NFL favors blacks over whites - they are inherently RACIST.
No they often have punters and kickers. Sometimes they are the same or at least interchangeable if needed.
Can you say “virtue signaling?” I knew you could. ;-)
I dont know if she can take a hit from a 300 lb offensive lineman without getting damaged.
You could say that about most kickers. It also rarely happens.
I remember the first time I tackled a guy that was about 15 yards away!!!!
He had NO intention of avoiding me so I stood there and when the time came I knelt down and took out his legs.
It felt like I was hit by a TRUCK!!
Was dazed for a few minutes. I was 5 11, 220.
What’s gonna happen to her when the return man gets past everybody?
It’s not our football anymore.
Leftists ruin everything.
Wake me when she gets tackled after recovering a bad snap.
Not that I am for this, but there are a lot of NFL kickers that probably can’t take a solid hit from a 300 lb lineman.
The vaginafication of the NFL continues apace.
Yeah then you can’t afford to have someone who can’t stop a return man from putting 6 up.
And they know that so why are they trying her out?
She’s going to need to take about three steps off of her approach and do this wearing full gear. Also, how will there be a roster position opened up for somebody to do kickoffs, or is she going to run down on coverage? What a joke.
Lots of soccer players transitioned to kicker. Its how we got into this soccer-kick style (sideways) rather than the old toe kick prevalent before the 70s.
Return implies punter.
She could be kicker for FG and PA with much less chance of hurt. Even so they dont seem to have much trouble with that, P or K.
Garabed Sarko Yepremian Position: K 5-8, 175lb
And this guy.
Martin Gramatica Position: K 5-8, 170lb
I'm not sure about her weight but ...
Right. After all, the K and P take a lot of flak for not being real football players.
