"These family members ultimately restrained the victim using a rope. Held him against his will, assaulted him multiple times and even threatened to kill him," according to a news release sent to Fox News from the San Bruno Police Department. The news release said the victim eventually was "released" and ran away from the home.
The 15-year-old's sister claimed her parents thought the boy was an intruder and acted in self-defense, KGO-TV reported.
"They were so scared because they found someone in the closet. They jumped because everyone was sleeping and this guy started kicking my step-father and trying to kill him," Belkys Gomez said.
Katherine Gomez, who was in the home during the alleged attack, reportedly said, "He (the victim) punched her and then my step-dad, of course, is not going to let anyone hit his wife. They tried to stop him and he was acting very violent so they grabbed a rope to try to tie him down and ask him why he was at the house."
Police said the three suspects used racial slurs during the alleged attack.
"The victim reported that throughout this attack the suspects yelled at him using multiple racial slurs, and he believed his race to be a motivating factor in the attack," police said in the news release, adding that "the victim is African-American, and the suspects are of Hispanic descent."
Katherine Gomez reportedly said the racial accusations were "not true at all."

To answer your question, yes. Of course a police officer or security guard displaying a weapon is an implied threat of violence. What would be the point of it if it wasnt.? And if they are displaying it in their own home, in front of you, deliberately, and you are their guest, then maybe, its an implied threat.
We got 90 miles of Everglades to the west and a few hundred miles of ocean to the east. The only time they find dead people is when they’re sending a message.
Agreed. And we might agree that "hate crime" laws are unnecessary because all crimes are hateful.
But, although the media is focusing on the "hate crime" charge, everyone is overlooking the other, more serious charges: "kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, and criminal threats."
That DM article gave the same information other articles are giving: the family members are claiming the 17yo attacked them.
That's the family's story. And I might've sided with the parents if they'd called the police to have him arrested at the house and if their story were supported with evidence. If he really attacked and "tried to kill" someone in their house (as they now claim), someone in the house should've called the police to have him arrested.
But they never did, which makes their story sound questionable (at best). The 17yo was the one who went to the hospital and to the police.
Uhm no.....you are “concern trollong” and wagging your finger in a vain attempt to appear superior....
If “display of weapons” threatens you you would absolutely hate my house....I have a daughter too....and Ive been known to clean my guns on datenights
Really? With the intent of conveying what message?
Its a man thing...you wouldnt understand.
Better not come to my home then.
Yeah, I wasnt expecting a thoughtful reply or any kind of self reflection or anything. So Im not disappointed.
