"These family members ultimately restrained the victim using a rope. Held him against his will, assaulted him multiple times and even threatened to kill him," according to a news release sent to Fox News from the San Bruno Police Department. The news release said the victim eventually was "released" and ran away from the home.
The 15-year-old's sister claimed her parents thought the boy was an intruder and acted in self-defense, KGO-TV reported.
"They were so scared because they found someone in the closet. They jumped because everyone was sleeping and this guy started kicking my step-father and trying to kill him," Belkys Gomez said.
Katherine Gomez, who was in the home during the alleged attack, reportedly said, "He (the victim) punched her and then my step-dad, of course, is not going to let anyone hit his wife. They tried to stop him and he was acting very violent so they grabbed a rope to try to tie him down and ask him why he was at the house."
Police said the three suspects used racial slurs during the alleged attack.
"The victim reported that throughout this attack the suspects yelled at him using multiple racial slurs, and he believed his race to be a motivating factor in the attack," police said in the news release, adding that "the victim is African-American, and the suspects are of Hispanic descent."
Katherine Gomez reportedly said the racial accusations were "not true at all."

All kinds of possible reasons.
One is not trusting the police to do what the family would like them to do. Another is trying to figure out what is going on with the daughter and the young man, to decide whether it is a family matter or a criminal matter. Another might hypothetically be that the family didn't want the police poking around their house.
Hard to know what was going on without more detailed information about the whole situation.
They claim the 17yo attacked them. They also claim they thought he was an intruder.
But they didn’t call the police. That’s what makes their story sound suspicious.

I admit I did not read the article but here are two kids doing something they shouldn’t. The daughter invited the boy into the home. The stepfather’s reaction was not appropriate. Personally, I would have called the boy’s parents and insisted they pick him up. I would make it clear to all of them that daughter’s bedroom is off limits, and the house is closed to the boy unless he is specifically invited by the girl’s parents through his parents. I would make it clear if I ever found the boy in the house without an invitation from an adult, it is trespassing and I would call the police. (I don’t know if this is legal or not, but I would make the threat anyway.) I don’t believe in grounding but I think I would change my position in this case. If there is a younger sister in the home, she would definitely be moved into the daughter’s bedroom. Daughter would definitely not be allowed to single date again until she has proved she is mature enough to not pull a stunt like this. I would say and do whatever I could to embarrass and shame my daughter! I would make her such a pariah, no teenage boy would want to come near her, and every other parent would hold me in awe!
Further, This is really really really against my principals but I think I would put the girl on some kind of birth control and make sure she has regular GYN exams.
