I could have made that catch - and more smoothly - at age 12.
Unfortunately, I didn’t have the bat speed or the outfield arm strength to play for a good college team, so my “career” ended with high school graduation.

It was not “no look”. He kept looking back until the ball got near, at which point he looked UP to adjust his running and position his glove accurately. As the ball woukd travel in an arc, that’s s smart way to do it. Tricks of the trade.

That was a nice catch, but I don’t think the author understands what the term ‘basket catch’ actually means :-)
