We don't even know how to describe J.D. Davis' value to the New York Mets at this point. The man seems to deliver in virtually every clutch at-bats for the club: just last night, the 28-year-old completed the Amazins' 10th-inning comeback against the Indians with a walk-off single. Flash forward less than 24 hours later, the outfielder was doing his best Willie Mays impersonation on a remarkable no-look basket catch against the Indians on Thursday night. What more is there to say about this guy? He's flat-out electric and it's about time he gets the recognition he deserves as one of the game's rising stars. This catch was sensational, and quite frankly, I don't think he's even sure how he reeled it in.

That was a nice catch, but I don’t think the author understands what the term ‘basket catch’ actually means :-)
ICBW, but I believe he threw to second...holding a runner from advancing on a tag-up. Willie's catch and throw came at about 470 ft....JD's catch at 358
“Telling” of what?
The headline claims Davis made an “unreal No-Look Basket Catch.”
No - he did not.
There are dozens of Little Leaguers who can track a fly ball and make that catch more smoothly than Davis did.
The only person on this thread who is NOT talking about the “topic subject” is you, Jon.
I WAS THERE !!!

Cool.
I saw it on tv that day. THAT was a GREAT catch.
And keep in mind, back in the 50's outfielders mitts/gloves were much smaller that the hi-tech, huge flytraps that are used today.
*******
One of the Pirates from the '60 World Series Bill Mazeroski had a pretty small glove.
Check it out.
.. looks like my glove from the 50's.
;-)
My recollection is that Don Mueller's (Giants right fielder) glove didn't have a pocket.

I hope that is supposed to be a joke. Was he a sh*tty fielder?
