President Donald Trump, who recently embraced the title of "King of Israel," has been repeatedly accused of promoting anti-Semitic tropes this week for his assertions that Jewish Americans who vote for Democrats are "disloyal."

FDR was very slow to acknowledge the Holocaust and America very well could have stayed neutral during WWII against Germany.

FDR wanted war with Germany, his "Arsenal of Democracy" talk was, for all intents and purposes, a Declaration of War on Germany.

"Ford factories built the B-24s that bombed the crap out of the Nazis "

Ford initially refused to build any airplanes. It wasn't until Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, and we declared war on Japan and Germany, that he got on board. I've been watching a British program titled "War Factories" that airs in the UK. I download it from the internet so I can watch it. The last two episodes have been about U.S. automobile manufacturers (GM, Packard, and Ford), and their role in producing the machines of war to supply our military, the British, and Russians. Early on in the war, Germany out-produced the British and U.S. in everything. They couldn't keep that pace up though, because of their inability to get needed materials, as well as their unwillingness to use unskilled workers to mass produce planes and tanks. We also outranked the Germans when it came to repairing those planes, and tanks, and getting them back out into action. The Germans were never able to do that.

War Factories

"Joe would be waiting on FDR to tell the nation those figures on TV."

At the time, FDR's regulations were strangling manufacturing. In order to get the automobile manufacturers on board to build military machinery, he had to get rid of the regulations. Production picked right up. The Democrats have never figured that out.

It boggles my mind, Germany less than the size of Texas, took on just about the entire world and kicked butt for as long as they did.

Not only that, but his staff has people with German ancestors and Germany is where Hitler came from.

And all those workers that work for Ford!

They would have worked for Hitler probably, and voted for Trump.

Yep, in WWI and in WWII. And in both wars, their “allies” were more millstones than helpful.

The German people, especially in the early 1900’s were quite robust and creative. Most forget, that before WWI, Germany was an absolute hotbed of human culture. Music, Art, Sport, Academia, they were the envy of the world.

It is too bad Hitler had to come along and mess all that up. (not that the people are blameless mind you). The German leader in WWI was demonized by the west, but he was nothing compared to Hitler. Hitler was the true demon, and Germans have been paying for it ever since.

Do Germans demand reparations for the mistake of electing Hitler?

I’m sure they do - but it’s also true that when the war started Ford converted their factories to War equipment and helped win the war against the Germans.

***************

Ha ha, that would be a twist wouldn’t it. I will say though, that the reason the German people have rolled over for Merkel and the massive amounts of immigration, is due, in part, to their electing of Hitler. I do not believe the German people will ever stand up for themselves due to that mistake. Maybe in a few hundred years, but not in any of our lifetimes.

But having gotten into the Great War, the Allies should have broken Germany up into several independent countries, like Bavaria, Hanover, Baden, Saxony, etc.
