Wildlife experts from the southern state have confirmed at least nine are known to have developed problems moving about but many more could be afflicted.
One bobcat is also known to have developed the same bizarre symptoms.
Numerous diseases and possible causes have been ruled out. But a definitive cause has not yet been determined.
Were working with the US Fish and Wildlife Service and a wide array of experts from around the world to determine what is causing this condition.

As long as my Ford Expedition is wide!
Heartbreaking video. Sadly they will starve to death.
I wonder if its possible that they have caught some condition from an invasive species for which Florida is king.
Cat Scratch Fever?
This is scary. I hope a cause is found.
Those cats had a good run.
It's raining pussy!
Maybe it’s just too hot.
Maybe mad cow syndrome has found its way in to the big cats
A previously unknown vector borne virus, possibly a tick?
Panthers??? Falling out of trees?!?!?!
It’s raining pussy!
No! No! No!
That would be cougars.
I saw a program on (Liberal) Animal Planet that said many large cats were being infected with canine distemper virus, causing many behavioral anomalies including loss of fear (from humans). The program suggested that this is a worldwide problem without a current solution.

Inbreeding.

One of those cats has a hip and leg that is wasted that reminds me of my old Jack Russell’s disease. He tore his knee and we had it repaired. It healed fine but the other back leg started to waste away. He didn’t want to put his feet on the ground and he was getting “lost” and turning in circles. I took him to a specialist in Knoxville and she said he had autoimmune disease of the nervous system that was causing the muscle wasting and neuropathy of his feet, among other issues. She said it was caused by the surgery. We had him put down when it attacked his liver. He was 13 when he had the knee surgery but he was in perfect health. The first couple of months after the surgery I had a hard time keeping him quiet. Two months later he was like those cats.

Sheep, goats, mink, deer, and elk can get sick with their own versions of BSE. Cats are the only common household pet known to have a version of BSE. It is called feline spongiform encephalopathy, and the same things that are being done to protect people and cows are also protecting cats. No cat in the U.S. has ever been found to have this disease. (2017)

My other thought is could it be leprosy from eating armadillos? I know that is far fetched but one to perhaps consider.
Actually, this is probably mercury poisoning. Look for someone doing some illegal dumping. Maybe even a state org dumping those CFL light bulbs while pocketing the tax money.
So they say
there is a first time for everything.
I dont believe it, but they do say that.
