Police arrested four people and seized metal poles, bear spray and other weapons Saturday as hundreds of far-right protesters and anti-fascist counter-demonstrators swarmed downtown Portland, Oregon, and authorities closed bridges and streets to try to keep the rival groups apart.
The city's mayor said the situation was "potentially dangerous and volatile." As of early afternoon, most of the right-wing groups had left the area via a downtown bridge and police used officers on bikes and in riot gear to keep black clad, helmet and mask-wearing anti-fascist protesters — known as antifa — from following them.
Hundreds of people remained downtown and on nearby streets in the afternoon and there were some skirmishes. Portland Police spokeswoman Lt. Tina Jones said one person was injured and transported via ambulance.

An article on Drudge included “shields” in a list of “weapons” confiscated by the police. The last time I checked, shields are not weapons, but protections against weapons, so I wonder if the police were trying to prevent people from protecting themselves.
There was a funny little book called “Combat Football.” They wanted to shake it up so they made it more “combat” style. Then the fans began joining in. Soon “fans” from two cities would just fill up a stadium carrying bats, chains and knives then they would just lock the doors.

EVERY article I’ve seen uses the same terminology: one side is described as “far-right,” the other as “anti-fascist,” thereby accepting Antifa’s own definition of itself while applying a biased description of the other side, a description used by CRITICS of the conservative side.
I’d arrest everyone wearing a mask. That’s a giveaway that the wearer isn’t there just for peaceable assembly and peaceful statement of views.

"Multiple groups." No specificity about it at all. The slide show of pics includes several pics of the Proud Boys but they sure don't look armed. No masks either.

I was very disappointed that didn’t happen when AntiFa marched here in the Atlanta area a few months back. We have good anti-mask laws here from taking care of KKKers. Unfortunately, the AntiFa goons were able to march masked like KKKluckers, perhaps because the march was in a tiny municipality with about 5-6 cops. Still, they could have called in help.
It’s worth noting the group marched carrying Communist flags, and they marched with people openly bearing arms. But no one I saw in the vids were both armed and masked. One of the armed guys I would argue was dangerously brandishing his weapon.
Dude, that’s how football started, as rivalries between neighboring villages. Time was the “pigskin” was quite literally a pig. You still see this today when rival colleges steal each others animal mascots.

That same terminology was used on CBS TV news earlier today. Those folks just can’t help themselves. They just can’t report the news. They’ve got to put a leftist spin on everything.

The hilarious thing is that the Proud Boys had a brief march and then took off. The rest of the day was Antifa fighting with cops.
So antifa came armed for warfare and nothing was done to them. Typical police work from a leftist city.
