IIRC, the radio station was sued. And probably settled out of court for a large sum.

That was in Sacramento. A nurse called into the program and pleaded with them to stop the contest and the two DJs mocked her claims that water toxicity could kill and called her an idiot. They continued urging the woman to “Wee for a Wii” by drinking more and more water, which was the prize. She did and died. Her family sued and the station was forced into bankruptcy and the FCC pulled their license.

Maybe they should have a vitamin eating contest. They’d still die.

It takes a special kind of idiot to participate in a how-much-can-you-eat contest.

They fought it in court and lost. Since the radio station declared bankruptcy, I doubt the family ever collected. https://abcnews.go.com/GMA/jury-rules-radio-station-jennifer-strange-water-drinking/story?id=8970712

Also, I discovered Taco Bell in Southern California. That was the beginning of more exotic food for me.

Not eaten at a TB in 50 years. It was a very pale/poor imitation of Mexican food back then.

I grew up with my dad taking sister and I down to old Olvera street in L.A. in the early 50's. Been eating Mexican ever since, my version of comfort food I suppose.

Habaneros for breakfast every chance I get, even got my wife into it a bit.

This reminds me of the water drinking contest on some radio station. A female died because she upset the electrolytes in her system. She drank over a gallon of water.

A few years ago a cop was getting ready to run a marathon here in DC and drank over a gallon of water. He died of water poisoning.
