A former NBA player had an emotional meltdown in a Brooklyn, New York courtroom on Monday after a judge sentenced him to more than three years in prison on gun possession charges.
Retired NBA point guard Sebastian Telfair, 34, started shouting and crying once the verdict was announced.
Officers had found three loaded handguns, a gas-powered submachine gun, extended magazines, ammunition and a ballistic vest in his vehicle during a traffic stop in 2017.
Telfair told the court that he's being convicted of a 'victimless crime'.
'Please dont take me from society right now,' Telfair told the court. 'I am 34. I can go play in China for six years and take care of my family. Im waiting for my daughter right now to get her period. Real mental illness because I wasnt around
She hasnt even gotten her period yet.'

“They usually say gas operated instead of gas powered.”
Obviously he is being prosecuted for environmental crimes.
Too bad for him he didn’t have this White Supremacist on his jury.
ML/NJ
He’s the cousin of Stephon Marbury and was a talent but somewhat undersized compared to his bigger, stronger cousin.
He came out of a rough Coney Island environment where rap and guns are part of their “culture.”
You would think a decent 8 year run in the NBA would smarten these guys up to stay away from that garbage. For some, it goes the other way. This is a ridiculous way to go down. He should never have been in a vehicle with all those weapons.
If I recall, this guy at one point was the “new Michael Jordan.” He had a NY playground record that was phenomenal.
1. The ones I have seen run on compressed air which is fed into them through a hose.
2. They aren't really crooked, but there is a powerful optical illusion that one should aim at the center of the star. It is possible for a trained shooter to knock out the points on the star and then cut a circle around the center, but an untrained shooter is never going to think of that.
That is why Addidas and Nike were fighting tooth and nail to sign Telfair.
So my memory of him is correct.
I agree, this seems, on its surface to be NYS run amuck.
Hopefully someone will help him out.
I think he has a valid point. From what I read professional athletes do not have to obeys the laws. In fact, to most, they are in the god class. The purpose of laws today are to control the sheep, peons, peasants, and serfs. Why single him out.Or , I suppose, who did he piss off would be a better question.
I was sympathetic until I read of the body armor. And the daughter’s upcoming menses had me laughing out loud. Lock ‘im up.
He should have shown some remorse and respect to these guys...
Checked out other news sources and they accurately described it as a semi-auto............Don’t know about the pot but due to his having a Florida issued CPL, his only crime was being in New York..
Aaagh! It can’t be unseen.
Possibly airsoft. My brother has a replica "Tommy Gun" that fires out pellets using compressed gas.
He had 4 handguns. Shouldnt have been smoking pot though.
Yes. Very weird. Perhaps he is just sorry he wont be there to protect her from the rape jungles of Progessoland.
Did they arrest him or charge him for the pot? Article says he claims no pot.
This is a little scary, unless there is more to the story we aren’t hearing. 3 to 4 years in prison, simply for having guns in NYC, that would be completely legal in the majority of other states?
Yes, very scary. I hope he appeals.
Don't waste your time with the DM
