“The first person who freezes to death in an electric vehicle because its range was cut in half and no charging was available will make all-electrics a non-starter for most Americans”
That kind of news will be more suppressed than a Clinton rape.
Way further than that. About 1/2 mile.
.
Yes this is definitely the way to go!
The most comon and costly failure in earth moving equipment is the torque converter getting overheated.
.
Air emissions are largely irrelevent!
Carbon is in no way a pollutant. It is the very source of life. CO2 is 100% beneficial. More CO2 = more life.
This is what the leftist death culture is all about; reducing life on Earth.
IMO - a battery swapping technology makes more sense. A station could have stacks of them ready to go and switch them in minutes (automate it). Youd basically have the convenience everyone wants.
The problem (as I see it) with the battery swapping technology is that who in their right mind would drive their brand new car into a service station and give them their brand new in-need-of-charge battery in exchange for one of unknown remaining life? Lots of people who typically charge at home are going to swap out their worn out battery for a new one. How would the manufacturer warranty a battery that has been swapped out for something else. All kinds of issues with that concept.
...not quite what I mean. Imagine the car doesn’t come with a battery, just a placeholder. Every time I go to an “energy station” (gas station today) I just pull up over a swap area (instead of next to a pump) and the battery is swapped for my next 300 miles. It would take a few minutes each time, just like filling up gas. The battery wouldn’t be considered part of the sale of the vehicle, you’re constantly swapping batteries with each “fill up”.
It would be like having pre-filled gas tanks that you swap in-out instead of a fixed gas tank that you fill each time. More like how we handle propane, except with batteries (and automated).
I saw your thread right after you put it up and started pecking away on my little Amazon Fire tablet that I use when I am reading in bed when I first get up. By the time I posted I saw there were like 60 other posts ahead of mine. So I said to my wife I wished that I hadn't bothered you. But you are very gracious getting back to me.
My wife has spent the last fifteen years or so setting up displays honoring our military at various types of events so we use vans and covered utility trailers for that. We also have been working on fixing up a couple of houses in a fairly heavy duty way, so they come in very handy for that as well. The Astro replaced an aging Ford Aerostar which replaced an aging Dodge 3/4 ton van with a 318 v8.
The Astro despite being an Auction vehicle from the state is very deluxe and quite comfortable. Surprisingly, the Dodge was just about as fuel efficient. It was a 1978 and had no air pollution control equipment and the 318 was an exceptionally fuel efficient engine.
None of this is a fair comparison to you Prius cars. We have a 2006 Dodge Stratus with a V6 which gets crappy mileage not even quite as good as your 25mpg comparison vehicle, and it costs a small fortune to insure because it goes like a bat out of hell when you hit the gas. So part of the problem is the way that I drive it. But we only paid $2000 for it at another state auction and it is a very good looking car. Actually every vehicle we have owned for the last 30 years has come from an auction. So it limits our choices a bit.
We had the same fuel filter issue as your friend with our Astro. It started running like crap going up hills and getting even worse fuel economy than normal. I do secretly envy you guys who are getting by on less than half the fuel as most of the rest of us.
Astro Van! A fine choice!
HO,HO,HO!!!
I GOT IT!
For some reason, my friends old Astro van was stuck in my head! I had to know what year it was that he showed me the worn-out plugs???
I used to have an exceptional memory, but somewhere between retirement, being run over on my bike and being a septuagenarian...??? Gone.
I could recall the conversation, who was there but not the timeframe??? I would roll over at night and think of it.
Early this AM it hit!!!
We also discussed the ‘Brown’s Chicken Murders’, a victim lived in the immediate area.
1993!
I believe it is good to work out memories.
Now if only I can remember if I fed the dogs this morning?
Every time I ask them they always say no!!!
And we are running out of dog food?
Thanks for the help.
It was fine until you turned them toward the barn and they thought they were going to get a reward for their efforts taking us to the Little Holland fast food restaurant a couple miles down the road for ice cream cones. Then it was a wild ride back home!
As soon as I got a ten speed bicycle I realized that was a superior form of transportation. But I got into bicycle racing very seriously and my two strongest suits were hill climbing and bike handling. The way I got good at bike handling was by pushing the limits which meant that I took a lot of spills. I also did get hit and/or run off the road on several occasions by four wheeled steel beasts. So overall I have as many serious head injuries from the bicycles. I am a big believer in helmets these days and won't leave home without one.
What is needed is a movie..... Our electric car vacation
Dead Granma or a live not dog need not ride on the roof to get the laughs.
The script practically writes it’s self.
GM quit because they do not havethe engineering talent to do the design work. VW thinks the Merkel subsidy bait is inadequate
Thanks for making my day! Problem is, half the population would not even get the jokes, because the joke is on them.
