A passenger on a United flight from Chicago to South Bend, Indiana, says the only attendant slurred safety announcements and passed out. Airport police arrested the woman, accusing her of intoxication. By

The flight attendant on a morning trip from Chicago to South Bend, Indiana, was intoxicated and didn’t know what city she had landed in when officers escorted her away, prosecutors say.

Airport police officers learned the flight attendant was either drunk or having a “medical issue” after the United Express airplane departed O’Hare International Airport on Aug. 2, according to an arrest affidavit.

Passenger Aaron Scherb tweeted at United Airlines while on the flight, saying he and others recognized her impairment.

Scherb told McClatchy newsgroup the flight attendant bumped seats and travelers, dropped things and slurred the safety announcement .

“After everyone boarded the flight and we were still parked at the gate, the flight attendant began the security announcement, which seemed very slurred,” Scherb told McClatchy in an email. “She stopped after about 10 seconds without finishing.”

While the plane taxied to the runway, the flight attendant took her seat and appeared to “pass out” or fall asleep, Scherb said.

A video taken by Scherb shows the flight attendant become “briefly alert” when pilots called on the internal telephone, which she didn’t answer, he said.

I’ve been on Ambien for more than a decade. I also had hypersexual behavior that I didn’t recall (with my boyfriend at the time, and most recently with my husband a few years ago; apparently I was also aggressive), I ate without remembering it on many occasions, but never got behind the wheel of a car or went outside of the house.

I’m on a very high dose, to the point where I don’t sleep at all without it. The last time I tried to get off of it, I was awake for nine days solid. Maybe ten minutes of sleep here and there due to exhaustion.

With Ambien, you keep operating as if you’re awake without slurring. I was told that the subject matter was kind of odd, which is how my husband is able to tell if I’ve taken it or not, though I don’t have those episodes anymore.

I’ve known people with lower alcohol levels who’ve died from alcohol poisoning. She’s very lucky.

Breath test probably administered an hour or so after was taken off plane

Was probably lot higher

Also aircraft cabin is pressurized to 8000 ft equivalent

lot less O2 than on ground which will enhance effects of alcohol

A person burns .016 BAC per hour.
I guess the altitude could play an important role.

How high a dose?....I have been taking it just two nights a week and even with that the 3rd night is a beat...I do have trazodone but frankly an otcqx works just as well as the trazodone..
Ambien works for me but not as well as it used to.

I’m glad she didn’t cause an accident or a chaotic scene.
Yet and still, I feel sorry for her.
Some people should never drink at all,m and cannot handle it.
Others become alcoholics, eventually bringing themselves to this point of personal and professional disgrace.

I would suspect she has to leave that job, and at her age, there won’t be any going back to a similar one.
She is too well known now.

I was never a flight attendant, but boy, back in the day, I had a few times I woke up in a strange bed. Sometimes it was a pleasant surprise.

Other times, not so much. *woof* Dem beer goggles needed a good dipping in Windex.

If I had to do their job, I’d get drunk also.
