Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is coming under intense pressure to take quick action on gun legislation in the wake of two mass shootings. Democrats and gun control advocates want the GOP leader to bring the Senate back into session during the August recess to vote on gun-related legislation. The chamber is currently scheduled to be out of Washington until Sept. 9. Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and GOP Rep. Peter King (N.Y.) on Tuesday cast McConnell as the primary roadblock to a House-passed gun background check bill making it to President Trump’s desk.

The best legislation always comes out of “the tyranny of the urgent”. Do I really need the sarc tag?

This might be a great opportunity for him to veto a bill for reasons that will resonate strongly with the American public.

It occurred to me months ago that if “The Thunderdome” many of us believe is in our future which party would we prefer to have in power? Was the reason Trump was “allowed” to win because “somebody” realized we would bring the curtain down on the entire show if he didn’t? Would we perform better entering CW II while an 0bama was president or a Trump? In fact, Trump may very well be a sop to keep US in line. We might want to consider some of these things.

I have proudly flown Old Glory every day for more years than I can remember. But if the proposed “red flag” laws are passed I will take it down, because we will have passed from a constitutional republic into a very, very dark place, similar to Nazi Germany in the 1930s and 1940s, and the Soviet Union in the 20th century; where family turns in family, neighbor turns in neighbor, and peeves and petty feuds are settled.

How about we forget about firearm confiscation for a while and do something about the enemy invasion across the southern border.

If someone is so dangerous you want to take away their guns, then they are dangerous enough to institutionalize.

Think about it. So you take their guns and just walk away? If they are so dangerous, they can hop in their car and now down people on sidewalks or attack someone with a knife. If suicidal they have many other means too.
