"After visiting Sweden, Lawson and Powell concluded that its more capitalist than socialist. They continued on their exploration to Venezuela, Cuba, North Korea, China, Russia, Ukraine, and Georgia all places where socialism does or has existed to varying degrees."
The young generation think they'll get Sweden, and don't want to live in these other places that are truly practicing socialism. However, voting in socialists in power, Venezuela and Cuba are what they are going to get.
The short history of Venezuela's downward spiral is a lesson that needs to be learned. Hard. By the young generation(s).
It’s been 15 or 20 years since I read PJ O’Rourke’s book, “Eat the Rich.” It would fit right into this discussion.
It doesn’t have a Venezuela chapter, but it’s got great insights into diverse places where socialism has been tried with various degrees of success and failure.
Check it out.
Norway doesn’t have open borders. You have to earn at least $47,000 per year to immigrate.
try denmark...real socialism..
Give them what they want. Send them to Cuba, North Korea, or Venezuela.
Student loan debt. Low paying jobs.
That is why socialism is so seductive. If you had $150K or more of debt and a $45K job in a major city, you would feel rather upset.
The GOP needs to do something about the education complex, but they are to focused on protecting the pharma industry and destroying the ag states.
A great too many people have to live through and experience the hard times, before they learn the hard lessons of life, and then, it’s too late.
It’s like wanting to experience a hard attack before know what it feels like, and then, it could be too late too.
I am not going to generalize and say all Millenials are stupid.
I will, however, say that 61% of Millenials are definitely stupid, and I have evidence for that.
The US is already pretty socialist.
SS, Medicare, Medicaid, Commiecare.
70% Federal spending on social programs.
States and local too, who knows how much.
“The Red Scare” murdered 100,000,000 humans.
Good thing it was only a “scare.” Would hate to see what REAL socialism would have done.
Academia is the problem.
New socialism: government regulates and taxes privately owned companies so much that they fail and so the government has to step in to save them.
Either way, ordinary productive people lose.
“only 27% of people age 65 and older had a positive reaction to the word that most of them still associate with the Red Scare.”
Uh, no. Not “the Red Scare”. Poverty, oppression, the gulag, lies, and mountains of corpses.
Bump
Sorry the children are simply being warped by commie and commie sympathizer academics who WONT tell them the truth about REAL socialism which has become neo-communism even in the US.
Socialist countries now recoiling from the damage socialism has brought upon their countries will be purposefully ignored.
They are simply told cherry picked examples : ‘Look at all these freebies and great shit the people of THOSE countries get under “socialism”’ and then total avoidance/silence about of the socialpolitical evils now perpetrated in those same countries.
The kids are NOT told HOW we (in America) got what we have in OUR country (What they are inheriting — as most don’t work yet and some even have parents who have NEVER WORKED).
They need to be told that there IS NOT any such thing as the “Free Lunch” that puppets like AOC and Bernie spew day after day and is heard by these ignorance-engineered children.
I like my childrens version. If you need money, you go to the ATM and ask, and they give you money. Seems logical, no?
I just call Socialism: Slow-Motion Communism.
“...61% of Americans ages 18 to 24 have a positive reaction to the word ‘socialism,’ and four more years’ worth of them will have reached voting age between 2016 and 2020.”
These kids hear the word “socialism” and since they are all in love with “SOCIAL MEDIA”, they think anything with “SOCIAL” in it is GREAT!
