#3 Type 1 diabetes is a serious disease requiring special attention all of the time
#4 Blaming/suing the insulin company won’t help the ones who need the cheaper insulin and are responsible
Sad. But you should never try to save money on medical things. Your life is too important.
Cut back on your cell phone, your cable, anything, but not on things affecting your health.
Some years ago I have been there. I needed some expensive meds and the insurance would not pay.
So I paid for it myself and it was worth it.
He was successful in using the new drug for at least 6 months before he died. Must be more to story.
Did he switch insulins with doctor approval? Also, drug companies ALL have programs that supply expensive, name brand drugs to people who cannot afford them. If course, the article failed to mention any of the above.

Sounds like he 1) wasn’t testing to see how the new insulin worked or 2) drank a lot of beer and undershot his insulin.
This is just an article by big pharma trying to push people away from Walmart insulin. Bernie brought this s*** up, and when people pushed back because cheap insulin is readily available, big pharma saw its chance.

I’m sorry, but if you need a drug that costs $1,200 per month, you better figure out how to get a better-paying job than working in a dog kennel. Move to another state if you have to. Or cut your spending.
Too few people these days are willing to figure out solutions to their own problems. They want the nanny state to save them.
I bet that guy had a cell phone, and a car, and lived in a place with a TV, a refrigerator and air conditioner. What did his grocery cart look like? I’ll bet it didn’t include whole chicken, big bags of potatoes or dried pinto beans.
More than likely he started using insulin for animals from the Vet clinic..
This is a greatly simplified description of drug pricing...but essentially true for most patent medications to ensure that the costs of development are recovered and that the company makes a profit. The root of this problem is how the cost of the brand name insulin is calculated: Pharmaceutical companies set the prices of drugs in the U.S. based on making a predetermined profit margin for the company. That margin makes up for the fact that prices in almost all OTHER developed countries are regulated...resulting in zero profit or even at a loss for sales in those countries. The result: The USA public underwrites the cost of medications for the world.
Insulin has a half life of 5 minutes. If it takes hours to lower blood sugar it’s not insulin.
FWIW, I’d make sure nobody had a life insurance policy out on the guy....
Josh Wilkerson was taking cheap insulin? I'd love to where else he cut back to save money. For starts, I bet it wasn't on his meals, his iPhone, his cable TV subscriptions, or his car. Those were probably his priorities.
The question is why is this pushed as a national story? Why now? Thousands of people die of bad drug reactions an any year. My guess is this story is pushed to assist the Dem candidates with their medicare for all, including illegals.

Did he eat something that boosted his blood sugar that high? Or, can the body create sugar that can boost blood sugar without eating something? Not familiar with the specifics of diabetes.
