FULL TITLE: 'If you look at both of these cases, this is mental illness': Trump blames El Paso and Dayton mass shootings on mental health of the gunmen - and promises additional action on Monday
Donald Trump said Sunday 'more has to be done' to prevent mass shootings.
In his first public statement since two mass shooting rocked El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, over the weekend, the president pledged to take action, saying, 'Hate has no place in our country, and we're going to take care of it.'
Trump told a small group of reporters that 'a lot of things are in the works' before boarding Air Force One in Morristown, New Jersey.
'We have done much more than most administrations,' Trump contended. 'But we've done, actually, a lot, but perhaps more has to be done.'
Trump said he has been speaking with Attorney General William Barr Barr and FBI Director Christopher Wray, as well as lawmakers and local leaders, and would be making a lengthier statement on Monday morning.
He indicated his administration is considering additional action, potentially aimed at addressing the problem of mental illness.
'We have to get it stopped. This has been going on for years,' Trump said alongside first lady Melania Trump. 'So thank you very much, and I will be making a statement tomorrow at about 10:00, and I'll see you there.'
The president answered a single question from reporters on the tarmac in New Jersey, where he spends his summer weekends, related to his admission that more more must be done to prevent gun violence. He did not outline specific action he plans to take.
He brought up mental illness, saying the shooters, both white men in their early 20s, were deranged.

Trump won by a very tiny margin in a few closely contested states. He has the 2020 election won as of now, but if he even hints at enacting a red flag law or an AWB he is finished. He will be sent packing in disgrace, and he will deserve it.

After thinking about it for a couple days, Both of these shooters fit the Bernie Sanders supporter profile. My kids know a few and they are all absolutely insane and just one trigger away from losing it like this. Crusius didn’t want Mexicans to take a cut of his socialist free stuff, and everything else he stated fits the Sanders supporter profile to the T. I think the utopian promises from Bernie Sanders caused this.

These mass shooting are not erupting spontaneously. We need to ask who is orchestrating them. Most likely the answer leads to the CIA. Now we have a Federal Ct. decision that confirms Wkileaks had nothing to do with the made up Russia, Russia hoax. All DNC roads lead to an internal leak by Seth Rich. Which then leads to a DNC murder. That’s why the shootings are occurring now to take the focus off treason. The clowns are super desperate. Trump needs to fire Haspel. She has had more than enough time to get control of the rogue CIA elements. These clowns will not stop until they are physically taken down. Look at it this way, they are able to fund operations off-the-shelf through drug trafficking, etc. with absolute no gov’t oversight. How many of these rogue elements are currently operating? They can pass some passive mental health legislation not directly related to firearms. The fact that the Florida school shooter got 34 visits from the cops should tell them that certain threats need action. But yes, if Trump signs another AWB he is finished. But also, Trump has a way of saying he will listen... listens and then ignores them.
