Delta Air Lines has come under scrutiny after the carrier reportedly did not allow a service dog scheduled to be delivered to a two-year-old child dealing with seizures on one of its flights.
According to FOX 10 Phoenix, pet rescue agency representative Kim Biggerstaff was planning to fly a service dog named Daisy to California to help a two-year-old girl named Mila Lhautara who was born with hydrocephalus and recently diagnosed with epilepsy.
When Biggerstaff tried to book a flight with Delta, the airline said the service dog would not be allowed to board. The animal was being flown to Mila, as her seizures cause difficulty breathing and Daisy would be able to alert the parents to the potential danger.
While Delta updated its emotional support animal policies in 2018 to not allow pit bulls on flights, Biggerstaff said Daisy is a boxer/bulldog mix. Despite the dogs documentation and training, Delta continued to refuse the animal on its flights.
I said that's discrimination. That's illegal, Biggerstaff FOX 10 Phoenix. They said, No, we have lawyers on standby. We wouldn't do this if there were any legal issues that could arouse.

I do not want to share an airplane ride with a damn service animal. Airlines and other businesses should not be required to accommodate all people with any perceived need.
I believe United changed it’s policy after a ‘service’ dog crapped on a seat. Doesn’t make any difference.
first it was Rottweilers , then it was dobies then it was pitbulls. well dummy heres some news. rottys and dobies were cleared of those myths because people just weren’t able to sustain a lie / myths. most of those dogs weren’t killers and didnt eat babies. . but pit bulls otoh, they haven’t been able to shake that terrible aura around them for DECADES! WHY? because its not a myth that they attack people! Ill take 3 rotties and a 1/2 dozen dobies in hood over one pit bull. All day any day. Id rather pet sit at an alligator farm then pet sit a pit.
“If you see someone our shopping and have a dog wearing a Service Animal vest and you doubt the dog’s ability, ask the the dog’s owner to demonstrate some common, basic Service Animal commands like sit, lay down and stay.”
And under ADA they can tell you to GFY. Especially if you are just some interested bystander.
“Delta wouldve gotten a lot of good PR if they had allowed the dog to fly free with a lot of fanfare.”
It’s a pitbull mix. The PR when it attacks is not good.
There is nother part of the issue.
The dog was not going to be a “service dog” to the person that was taking it to the little girl. It likely could have flown on the flight in a pet carrier in the air/pressure controlled section on the lower/baggage level.
The article says “Daisy is a boxer/bulldog mix”. I don’t normally think of a bulldog as a pitbull, but I’m no dog expert.
In my view, pitbulls should be exterminated. They’re really gentle, until they’re not.
A series of dog bite incidents, which Delta Airlines accrued since 2014 with dogs labeled as service animals, shaped the current situation.

Oh, that’s exactly what it is. You admit the policy was to bar pitbulls. Then you admit the policy didn’t apply since the dog was not a pitbull. Just another instance of calling any big muscular dog a pitbull. If you want to ban pitbulls, then come up with a non-discretionary standard that defines a pit bull. (Other than big muscular dog.)
This is so much like the liberal gun banners wanting to ban something because of it’s looks. Ban black scary guns. Same concept.
Either you are an idiot, or stupid. I’ll let you pick out which one cause a boxer/pitbull mix is a pit bull!

At least I can read. From the article: “Biggerstaff said Daisy is a boxer/bulldog mix.”
Do you know the difference between a “bull dog” and a “pit bull”?
