I been wanting to ride more too. I started riding(other than childhood and teens) a few years ago and have yet to do so at night. So I been wanting to do that. Be like night fighter aircraft during WW2.

Interesting idea for a thread.

Here’s an SF classic short story called The Bicycle Repairman.

Love to read about it.
If I’m lucky one day I will have one.
Or I’ll sit around sad wishing I had one.

Back in my late 20’s to mid 30’s I would ride my Cannondale touring bike 3-4 times a week for 40 miles per trip. Great way to unwind and “find my happy place”. Longest trip I took was a 90 miler from my house in Bergen County, NJ to Bear Mountain and back one fine Fourth of July. Ride just about killed me except I remember the rush I got as I finished the ride and rode up to my house.

I was asleep by 8:30 that evening.

Best wishes on your century tomorrow.
That’s way above my skill level.
I can do 40 miles but then, that’s it.
Thanks for joining the List!

I think there are definitely a lot of topics that would bring people closer on FR.
And there are some like cooking and gardening and poetry.
Now we have bicycling, once again.
I’d like to see more.

LoL!
Reminds me of the tourists beer rides I see here.
Eight people cycling a bar around while drinking beer.
You have great fortitude!

I’m 60 but I ride with a pack of 25 year olds on 5 k$ bikes pretty often. They say “keep up old man or go home!”
It just motivates me to stay right with them then at the end when theyre tired and sucking down gu packs I take the lead and and finish. I always turn my hand back to them and give them a one finger salute.

My old bicycle slips in gears 3 and 5. One might think but you still have gears 1, 2, 4, 6 and 7.
Yes but there comes a time when I really need gear 3 or 5.
And it’s always when I am farthest from home.
And I think, this is where the chain breaks.
One day it will break.

I should look into how to fix that.

I ride my old bike when I need to lock and leave it.
