Gold is gold. A couple of mils of gold plating over silver, is all.
"Olympic Gold medals are required to be made from at least 92.5% silver, and must contain a minimum of 6 grams of gold.[6] All Olympic medals must be at least 60mm in diameter and 3mm thick."

Yea, but recovering the tiny amount of gold from electronics is not cost efficient. Still, it they want to pay for it, more power to them.
