After some thought on the generation gap appearing in today's society, I have decided to reach out to some of you to get a wider dialogue. Here are some basics about me:
- 24 years old (been a Free Republic member since 2014)
- served in the regular Army for five years (Arabic linguist), I've been out for a year
- one more semester of a bachelors' degree in international relations, plan to attend grad school for linguistics in spring, have a few computer science online certificates
- working for now as a rent-a-cop for $12/hr part-time, I live with my father
- I'd like to do some linguistics-related work, interested in Middle Eastern and Caucasian languages specifically. I may want to get into a consultancy role related to data science
- I'd describe myself as a right-leaning nationalist, and not as much a libertarian anymore. Socially, I am more on the conservative side
Can't wait to see what y'all have to talk about, thanks.
How’d you learn your Arabic?
Classic millennial. I’ve got to do your job for you.
And I bet you still want to get paid.

OK, real questions ...
Were you able to access FR on base?
Roughly what percentage of fellow soldiers were Freepers?
What is the meaning of Covfefe?
Why is the music you young punks listen to so, so sh*tty?
LOL here all you are going to get is well meaning life advice.
I’m impressed by what you have done so far, your ambition, and the goals you have set for yourself. Well done! Keep it up.
At the DLI
He was trying to get out of California ASAP...
What would you do for a Klondike Bar?
If they have something from me, I wouldnt know to be honest
Can you drive stick shift?
Perhaps a surname, only hits I got.
What’s up with man buns?
Many of us, yes. There are those who are aware of the greater truths and prefer to keep it private. Conformity is on the rise again
If you learn about all those new dangled things you can do differently to keep up with the market, that wouldnt be a problem.
OK, I’ll take your request seriously and reply accordingly...
Do you know of Strauss/Howe’s four generation theory of history? If not, don’t worry about it. If you do, I have two questions:
1) To what extent do you see yourself and/or your generation as exemplary of the Hero designation, as defined by Strauss/Howe?
2) Do you feel somehow disappointed by not having been a part of the massive-type Crisis experience that the American Revolution, Civil War, and WWII generations were able to define their lives by?
“Whats up with man buns?”
Mine are kinda flabby. Glad you care though.
Thank you for your service.
I would ask you but then I would have to kill you.
