After some thought on the generation gap appearing in today's society, I have decided to reach out to some of you to get a wider dialogue. Here are some basics about me:
- 24 years old (been a Free Republic member since 2014)
- served in the regular Army for five years (Arabic linguist), I've been out for a year
- one more semester of a bachelors' degree in international relations, plan to attend grad school for linguistics in spring, have a few computer science online certificates
- working for now as a rent-a-cop for $12/hr part-time, I live with my father
- I'd like to do some linguistics-related work, interested in Middle Eastern and Caucasian languages specifically. I may want to get into a consultancy role related to data science
- I'd describe myself as a right-leaning nationalist, and not as much a libertarian anymore. Socially, I am more on the conservative side
Can't wait to see what y'all have to talk about, thanks.
A cunning strategy.
Good luck.
I invented 'LOL'.
No, really.
” our struggle will be in the future, when social protections fail and demographic changes rear their ugly heads. Then we will help to answer whether a free society can exist in an age of dystopian technology and mass indoctrination”
Very similar to what my twenty and thirty something sons believe.
Yes I have, with limited results (take from that what you will). I got sick of the whole business anyway, and the person I had a date with was a bit revolting to me. Its worked in what some people I know do though, so Im not the foremost authority.
“Ive absolutely resigned to it. Boomers grew up in a period of artificial prosperity made possible by victory in war and by their country becoming the top dog. Globalization makes things different now. I think we could do something about it once the housing bubble bursts again”
Once again I’ve heard the same thing from my sons.
“Have a nice day.”
F Gump et al
My friends the WoW fan, honestly. I dont know much about it.
That’s a fact Jack!
Generation overlap occurs within the first few years of a defined change.
It doesnt seem to, does it?
African or European?
I first saw “Have a nice day” on a plastic covering from the dry cleaners in 1964.
This was also about the time “Blow your whole cool” arrived on the east coast from California.
We scratched our military heads over that one.
Accents and colloquial terms are a completely different animal.
What’s this small brown thing behind my armpit?
speaking of millenial dating in general, tinder, etc., what do millenials {cisg males, cisg females} think about the allegation that nowadays at least 1 in 13 adult females is a sugar baby “looking” (with the stat probably significantly higher when consideration restricted the 18-22 age group)?
> Whats this small brown thing behind my armpit?
Yo, forget to take a shower this month? lol
manners!
lol
I was speaking of things like: burned up and burned down.
I wouldnt be surprised at that. I almost assume that almost any girl my age I would be interested in has been with at least three or four other partners, but that may be from a pessimistic nature.
A migratory dingleberry?
Just a guess.
