WASHINGTON (AP) Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats is leaving his job next month, ending a two-year tenure marked by President Donald Trumps clashes with intelligence officials.
Trump announced Coats departure on Aug. 15 in a tweet Sunday that thanked Coats for his service. He said he will nominate Rep. John Ratcliffe, R-Texas, to the post and that he will name an acting official in the coming days. Ratcliffe is a frequent Trump defender who fiercely questioned former special counsel Robert Mueller last week during a House Judiciary Committee hearing.
Coats often appeared out of step with Trump and disclosed to prosecutors how he was urged by the president to publicly deny any link between Russia and the Trump campaign. The frayed relationship reflected broader divisions between the president and the governments intelligence agencies.
Coats public, and sometimes personal, disagreements with Trump over policy and intelligence included Russian election interference and North Korean nuclear capabilities. Trump had long been skeptical of the nations intelligence agencies, which provoked his ire by concluding that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election with the goal of getting him elected.
A former Republican senator from Indiana, Coats was appointed director of National Intelligence in March 2017, becoming the fifth person to hold the post since it was created in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks to oversee and coordinate the nations 17 intelligence agencies.

I suspect Coates and Wray are both trying to cover a lot of the crap up.
Drain the swamp
Ahahahahahahaha.
#FReeQsKnew
Good. The low life blessed Hillary’s Russia hoax and was a coup participant.
This is great! Ratcliffe was on fire when questioning Mueller.
For 17 years, Democrats have attacked our intelligence services for the “bad intel” on Iraq and WMDs.
Democrats were convinced that the intel community was corrupt and could not be trusted.
Trump also attacked the intelligence community for its failures over Iraq...but Democrats now say that is undermining our nation’s security.
Hypocrisy, they name is Democrat.
Drain the swamp.
Flush the refuse.
Decontaminate.
Sterilize.
Exterminate.
If he disagreed with Trump, we KNOW he was a two-faced SOB liberal. (But I repeat myself.)
Eff him and his children.
May the flies of a thousand camels come to rest in his Kool Aid.
May his nose get covered in Obamastuff. (Oh, forgot, it already is.)
Go away, *sshat, and become a barrista - which befits your east-coast “eddikashun”.
Other than that, I think the guy is fine.
Three questions:
1. Is the replacement a sitting congressman? and if so
2. is he conservative? if so, then the President needs to pick someone else. and if not,
3. do we have a chance to keep the seat by electing a conservative?
Coats quit the Senate at age 53 because he knew he would lose to Evan Bayh. 12 years later he ran again when Bayh had enough. Once again he’s taking the path of least resistance.
HELL to the YEAH!
Excellent news! Ratcliffe is superb.
Governors usually replace Senate vacancies, but I think House vacancies wait until the next election. Ratcliffe’s district has voted 60-75% Republican in the last several Presidential elections. Very doubtful the seat would be filled by a non-Republican.
Who appointed Dan Coats?
Somebody, sorry I don’t remember who, posted on another thread today that he lives in Ratliff’s district and that he is a staunch Conservative and that the district is strong Republican.
Good. Wray needs to go next.
I suspect Coates and Wray are both trying to cover a lot of the crap up.

IMHO, undoubtedly, the remaining question is, will Barr do the same?
I don’t see any heads rolling at DOJ.
We are two years into an attempted coup involving DOJ, FBI and CIA and so far nobody is losing their pension.
Wray has got to go. He’s a deep swamp stoolie. Out with him. He is obstructing justice and has bit Trump’s hand that fed his face. Turncoat.
